Matthews fight about to start.
Mickey Vann makes a rare appearance as a WBU title fight referee.

Matthews using the height advantage well from the start.
Simpson knocks Matthews down after a minute with a sharp counter.
Matthews straight back up, not hurt.
Matthews hits back with straight rangy punches, looks a bit tense though.
Simpson 10-8

Simpson is up for this, but is having trouble closing down the distance.
More good straight punches from Matthews.
Matthews 10-9

Matthews wild left hook is a bit amateurish, he looks freakishly tall though for a featherweight.

Simpson could do this.
Finds a good right over the top.
Working the body too.

What is with Matthews out of range left hook? It's bothering me. He is very keen to hold, does Simpson carry more power than we thought? Simpson round 10-9, Matthews looks ragged by all accounts.

Round 4 was close i gave it to Simpson but could have gone to Matthews, It's my first real viewing of Matthews but he doesn't look very good to be brutally honest.
Why was Vann bollocking Matthews?

Round 5 hard to call, Matthews just wants to smother and spoil whenever Simpson lands and falls in. Pretty scrappy. Hope Simpson keeps the British if he wins, WBU is worth shite.
Think Andy Morris would beat Matthews probably.

Cut on top of head for Simpson, not a problem (accidental calsh of heads)
Matthews leaning on Simpson and holding him down alot...one point deducted.
Simpson 10-8

What 's the odds on Matthews getting chucked out? Seems a dirty fighter. Point off, Simpson round 10-8.

I probably sound like a moaning bastard but Matthews is awful. Throwing wild hooks and leaning in and clinching. Scrappy stuff.
UTV have cut to fornicating adverts halfway through the round

Another warning for Matthews punching the back of the head when clinching.
Simspon still looks very determined.
Close and untidy round. Mickey Vann wants a look at the Simpson cut.
Doctor takes a look....
Fight on, good shot from Matthews.
10-9 Matthews
(68-65 Simpson)

It was an accidental cut so won't it go to the cards? Why is Simpson "about to lose"

Blood from Simpson cut at top of head still flowing. I'm not sure of the WBU stoppage rules...but Simpson is ahead on points if it is stopped.
(If Simpsons British title was on the line he would lose it on a cuts stoppage)
Good exchange.
Close again
Matthews 10-9.

Vann gets the vaseline cleared from the hair of Simpson.
Slightly better work from Matthews...but lots of holding from both fighters.
Still lots of blood flowing from Simpsons hair into his eyes.
Point taken from Matthews for holding and hitting...he was winning this round but may get chucked out.
Good shot by Matthews, but follows with illegal forearm
Simpson 10-9
