I would like to see Geale, Medley and Dawson step up and fight each other, They are all around the same stage of there careers and all in the same weight class.

I have mentioned him on here a few times before but he is worth another mention on here:

Tyrone "The Cyclone" Tongia - currently at 5-1(2) he has a huge future in the fight game. I have watched him since he debuted on the Green Mundine undercard and he has gone from strength to strength. I think he has the tools to go a long way...

What do you consider a 'prospect'? Are we talking under 10 fights? 15? 20? I think this is a great idea, so we can all keep up with the future of Australian boxing :TU:

I consider a prospect as someone who has never stepped up, Someone who has never been really tested.
I considered Cameron a decent prospect until he beat Mirovic who is sort of a gate keeper for the next class of fighter(someone who wont go down after one punch), Katsidis has just stepped up and he is now more than a prospect as he actually fought someone who had skill.

I would say Geale, Medley, Dawson, Dib are decent prospects and then you have guys like Tongia who is also a good prospect although at a different stage in his career.
Thats how i sum up a prospect but others may disagree.

Does anyone know whats going on with Bowie Topou? Last I heard he upped and left for America. I also hear that he is being trained by Freddie Roach? But I haven't heard anything about a fight coming up, or what his plans are from here? He is one to keep an eye out for...

what does everyone think of youg praaped singh? he only 20 years old and is 12-0. he has two fights scheduled on boxrec.

heres a question....instead of chasing bogus world rankings, why arnet our bright young prospects chasing commonwealth gold, there is better competition in those ranks than in the alphebet asia-pacific titles.

I was just gonna mention Pradeep, who I think is a reasonable prospect. Have only seen him against the Japanese guy he fought late last year, but was impressed. Doesn't have a lot of power at this stage, but his jab and left hook were both impressive and he handled a bigger and more experienced opponent well I thought. Really look forward to seeing him again.

It will be good to see when he steps up the competition. At the moment he is still fighting guys with losing records but a win over Brett Culey in his third fight is impressive... lets hope he picks it up a bit soon cause he could make an impact.

Jamie Pittman - Super Middleweight. He was a champion Ameture fighter turned pro in 2004. Hasn't lost a fight yet and only a few months ago won a belt. He is one to watch.

Yeh Pittman seems like a real talent, I have only seen a couple of his fights but he seems to be good, He has picked a strong weight division and at least he has a lot of decent opponents for him in Australia.

I do make a correction. His next fight was advertised on this site as light Heavyweigth, but they have since corrected it to Super MiddleWeight.
I am also a friend of his and have watched him fight since the day he started.

Jamie Pittman (super middleweigth). Already a commonwealth gold medalist '03' plus has other titles. Captained Australian Olympic team in Athens '04'. Ameture fighter turned Pro Nov 04.

I've actually seen more of Pittman in the amatuers than the pros, always thought he look ok... 12 and 0 and already the WBF champion in his first 12 round fight!?! As with most Aussie prospects he will need to step up the competition soon but he seems to be traveling well...

i meant like proffesional commonwealth titles. i would rather see our good young fighters (or eveb some of our older ones too) fight for commonwealth titles more often...there is some good fighters from Britain, Canada, and some pf the African countries

Years ago most Aussie national champs were Commonwealth Boxing Council contenders.
These days CBC choose to have Pomms & Africans with bogus records.

How about the guy who gave Tongia his only loss, Robbie Bryant? He's only had the one fight, a UD win over Tongia last September. Problem is he's had 6 months between his first two fights, and he's 28 this year. He will definitely have to pick up his workload if he wants to be a real contender.

I mentioned him in another thread and yeah I definitely think he is one to keep an eye on. Amateur champion and a great win first up, lets see what he does on his next outing :box:

His next outing is this coming Saturday, against a yet to be confirmed opponent. Most likely someone from Thailand I suppose.

I think Billy Dib is a great prospect. Now that he has signed with Golden Boy promotions, he has a real chance of getting to the top. He was awesome in his last fight with Carlos Contreras. He is showing a lot of improvement. All that sparring with Shane Mosley is helping him enormously.

Ha ha ha. Very close turns out he's fighting a Fijian, Taniela Vatunicoko, who's only fight is a second round KO loss to Daniel Dawson!
