Well, not quite. I did that for dramatic effect. However, in the IBF rankings (which now lists the champions of the other 3 orginisations at the top of each division) they list Maccarinelli as being of Wallis And Futuna descent.
Yeah? Well I didn't know either, so I read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallis_and_Futuna
Now I'm finding it hard to link Swansea and the Wallis And Futuna islands.
Is there something in this, or does it merely strengthen my theory that the IBF does in fact leave a headless chicken in charge of its ratings?

I think you're being a little unfair.... Wallis and Futuna, Pacific Islands, population 15,000 and the United Kingdom, European Islands, population 60 Million are easy to confuse....
Also worth noting that the IBF also list Joe Calzaghe as English.... perhaps the Wales piece is missing from the office world map Jigsaw they're using...

Class. Almost as good as the time that the boxrec schedule suggested that the Germans had conquered Sheffield.
I can see where confusion may arise though. I've been to Wallis island, and can confirm that there are several boxers named Enzo currently active there. Rumour has it that one of them is being lined up for a shot at Witter.

I was in Samoa last year and told a barmaid I was from Wales, at which she looked surprised. Well, I was a very long way from home, but that wasn't the reason for her reaction. She said "I've never seen a white person from there before". I wondered what kind of Welsh people she had seen... Turns out she thought I said "Wallis".
Maybe the IBF's rankings compiler is that same Samoan barmaid?

its just anglo saxon arrogance, the celts had civilization when the saxons were roaming barbarians, everything is cyclicalKOJOE90 wrote:I know a few Welsh people and they are a VERY proud of their nationality.rhino222 wrote:welsh people generally wish they were another nationality. there is no pride in watching your national team/sportsmen getting whooped all of the time......
