Gammer ...Phillips...

Post by banjaxd »

i thought Gammer boxed well and he does have great handspeed but he needed to hold danny and use defense to make him thrown big punches and miss...williams usually needs a breather after missing with a headchopper...
Scott was unlucky Danny came in in such excellent shape - who would have credited it ?
if Gammer could add some pop to his combos he could be a force in the british scene again - i think he beats mcdermott in this eliminator....

dean phillips lost to a very impressive swansea fighter - i was amazed at how good the guy looked and how confident the youngster seemed - a hard fight for dean phillips...

Gammer is white, big and can box a bit - can he get more punching power by adjusting his technique ?...if he takes the loss positively the experience could be invaluable to him...

I agree, he did very well despite Danny being written off beforehand. The fight was still up for grabs until Danny turned it on Tyson-style. To be even on points after eight rounds against the best Danny we've seen in years is no disgrace. He showed a lot of positives and can come back, especially as he's the youngest of Britain's "big five".

I was surprised to read that Dean Phillips is to carry on boxing, he looked out of sorts last week, couldn't compete with Owen.
His last 2 have ended in stoppage losses, so maybe this was the time to bow out.
