The fights I noted on the former WBA Title challenger's record are not in RRB 1983. That, plus the fact that the dates and locations don't make much sense makes me think there was another Ernesto Herrera.
Does anyone know for certain?
Ernesto Herrera
Sorry not to get back sooner as I was on the road when U made this enquiry.
In Dick Mastro’s Official Boxing Record Dec. 1982 Vol.VII, #12, there is a *note on Ernesto Herrera’s record on page 26.
[Not to be confused with another Ernesto Herrera who was fostered on us by a wily manager and an irresponsible commission, which allowed a duplication of names by two fighters in the same weight class and both from Mexico. The ringer boxed from 1981 until he was stabbed to death in Los Angeles in May of 1982.]
I have taken the liberty of separating the two Herrera’s using Mastro’s book along with the reports I have from the California Commission.

I suspect that the 03-10-82 bout with Sammy Flores belongs to the “ringer” too, but have no proof …yet.
I also entered his early record.
When I was in Panama in 1984 I got Herrera’s early record that they had from when he challenged Esubio Pedroza for the WBA title.

The dates of
Ventura Perez (10-11-74)
Jose Franco (07-23-75)
don’t fit in very well though.
Maybe Nippon (10-10-74 Gustavo Rodriguez)
And
torlin (07-13-75 Armando Franco)
could re-check their dates & references.
