Yeah, right, Tigger. We've all been fooled completely all these years. We all thought he was the greatest fighter ever. What fools we have been. Lucky for us you are able to appear every 6 months and remind us. Good for you, Tigger. Good for you!tigerpomfret wrote:Now then, cooper who tried to use the nickname he stole off Ingemar Johanson... Enough of that, lets talk about Hernry`s so called hammer
which never ko`d a top fighter, another thing, cooper never had a right to get his title shot at ALi,no way on earth, what a joke.
And when cooper said"i finally got Patterson" circ;1966 and was booded out the ring, after being sparked right out the truth was, henry was offered to fight Patterson in America years earlier, after a bone cruching 15 roundier with Brain London, but Cooper refused ,and London took the fight, putting up a brave 11 rounds, but was fined a huge £2,000 by the British Boxing Board of control.

Yes, terribly, terribly sad, wasn't it? Actually, I think London has got over it now. Do you think you ever will, Tigger?tigerpomfret wrote:Enough of that, lets talk about Hernry`s so called hammer![]()

Obviously this has been done a few times on the board and there's some "history" between the posters which I don't know of, but it's not "absolute shite", I think it's a valid topic. I've always argued Cooper was overrated. I know some disagree, and certainly he fought in a tough era, but the point is hardly "absolute shite".harrygreb wrote:this has to be the worst thread on this forum. absolute shite.
Overrated in what way though?... noones saying that he was an all time great heavyweight, but he was a useful fighter in a tough era and he was undoubtedly the best in Britain for well over a decade when the talent pool was quite high.... if anything Cooper is probably underrated these days...oliverfennell wrote:Obviously this has been done a few times on the board and there's some "history" between the posters which I don't know of, but it's not "absolute shite", I think it's a valid topic. while not generally disagreeing about cooper's ability. why waste your time having a pop at the guy. he is quite a significant figure in brit boxing of the last 50 years, ABA champ in the late 1950's still competing against good opponents until packing up 15 years later. we are under no illusions that cooper would have if...if....if so why have a go? there are plenty of more worthwhile subjects to write about. that is why i called the thread absolute shite and i remain convinced of my correctitude.
Exactly, and its not a valid subject to say that cooper had a glass jaw... he could be koed yes, but that doesnt make a fighter glass jawed... most fighters can be koed, its only the exceptional ones that cant... Cooper would never have competed at the level he did for so long had he a glass jaw... Tiggers been coming up with these ludicrous anti Cooper threads ever since he first appeared here and its pathetic... mention that brave warrior Brian London though, and he disapeares for a good while... read into that what you will...harrygreb wrote:while not generally disagreeing about cooper's ability. why waste your time having a pop at the guy. he is quite a significant figure in brit boxing of the last 50 years, ABA champ in the late 1950's still competing against good opponents until packing up 15 years later. we are under no illusions that cooper would have if...if....if so why have a go? there are plenty of more worthwhile subjects to write about. that is why i called the thread absolute shite and i remain convinced of my correctitude.
Yeah Richardson was a good fighter, very strong, Charles was pretty much washed up when he lost to him (I think he was disqualified for holding) but still a good name for Richardson. Have you much footage of him or the others?...... I've always liked Walker and Prescott... and have highlights of their two fights... footage of Walker vs Bodel and London exists as well I think, I would love to get hold of them.
Did you ever see footage of the after fight brawl between the Londons and the Richardsons after their fight in the early 60s... wild stuff!... even London senior got stuck in...

OH yes the Walker v Bodell (full fight) and Walker v London (6/10) exists.
Not much footage around on Dick Richardson. Besides the short clips of fight/brawl against London, I only have clips of his fights aginst Mildenberger and Johansson. Quite a lot of Brian London fights exists.
Those were the days.
Woller
