John put up a brilliant performance in the first bout. One of the best fights I've ever seen. Shame Conteh didn't win, but you can't take it away from Muhammad, who had tremendous courage.

In the rematch, it was all over for John after four rounds. It's amazing how such a contrast can happen from one fight to the next. But I guess that's boxing for you.

First fight was a cracker.

This was indeed a great bout-he was nearing the end by the time he faced Saad, & I thought he was going to pull it off until he got caught. Couldn't believe John was able to get back up after he folded like a deck of cards.

I remember being a bit surprised at Conteh's performance as well-he was a constant tease throughout his career-brittle hands, lack of dedication, & etc. He had excellent, excellent skills.

Always wondered about a hypothetical match up with RJJ at 175.

The first fight is one of my favorit fights. I don´t care about the story of illegal substances used on Saad´s cuts. They battled it out and Saad won an extremly close decision..
The poor showing in the second fight was Conteh more beaten by alcohol problems than by Saad Muhammed.
They were both great fighters - I love to watch them on tapes.

It's been a long time since I saw that fight. Didn't MSM come from behind, and drop Conteh twice (in the 14th ?) to decide it.
