Thaxton, Pickering Updates

Post by Romi »

Anybody going to be doing a RBR? Unfortunately, we don't pick up these fights in the states. I'll be happy to do a RBR (Current Scenes board) for Marques/Barerra and the undercard, on Saturday.

Thaxton wins round 1 clearly landing a few big left hands that knock Lawton off balance.

Lol, lvlarc i misread your post and thought Thaxton had chinned him for a round 1 KO! I am not watching it but i predict a Thaxton KO in about 8 or 9 rounds.

P.S. Tell the inconsiderate person not to ring again 8)

Small gash over Thaxton's right eye. Thaxton missing with headshots, better with body. Clash of heads.. close round I give it to Thaxton

Round 5
Thaxton headhunting but getting countered with rights. Thaxton abit overly aggressive, maybe wasting energy. Left hooks for Thaxton glance. Not much in round 5. I give it to Thaxton on workrate.

3-1-1 Thaxton

Round 6

Lawton working body, Thaxton putting combos together with better success. Good defence from Lawton though. Both look gassed. Round for Thaxton.

Round 7

Big right hand lands flush for Thaxton. Lawton's face is all bruised and bloody, ref calls time out after the big right hand. Game on... Lawton comes out to trade, Thaxton left lands as Lawton goes to body. Lawton on backfoot stepping in with arm punches. Big right hand knocks Lawton off balance, almost goes down, Ref jumps in....that's all she wrote!

Thaxton TKO 7

Lawton had a few open cuts, over his eyes and nose, got caught clean with that big right hand and almost did a Judah dance on the spot before ref jumped in and called it off. Tough night for Thaxton early on. I think I heard them call out Amir Khan...

Good guy is Lawton. Lovely fella. Just a shame, he met such a tough Champion in Thaxton.

I actually had it a bit closer. Thaxton for me gave away some rounds , perhaps rds 3 & 4. He had fits with the height of Lawton and instead of using angles, feints, or a jab, he threw wide shots and marched forward.

Thaxton's far more comfortable on the back foot. As with Meager. Nonetheless, it was a fierce effort, he took over big time in the 6th and it was a great finish.

I doubt Khan will be ready, despite saying he wants to win a British title this year. Earl won't want it after the Katsidis beating and not after how he looked v Vanzie.

Romanov, for me. Thaxton deserves a Euro title shot and a fight with Romanov would be awesome. Thaxton's one of my faves, but I think Romanov would stop him in an up & downer.

How many fights had Ricky Hatton had before going in with Thaxton for the British title? I'd be surprised if Khan isn't contesting the domestic lightweight belt by the end of the year.

It would be a great match up if Thaxton was still champion.
