buckley is worth his weight in gold whatever weight he fights at. he deserves a lonsdale belt actually for the guys he's helped to attain that award or go on to greater things in our sport.
Whenever he retires he deserves some special recognition. I understand he's fed up at the moment and feels he's done his bit...we'd like him to reach 300 but I'd rather he got out now if that's what he wants.
Peter Buckley is a pride to the sport. I have his fight here from Denmark when he fought Johnny Bradahl way back in 1990.
Peter also once fought for the WBA Intercontinental Super Bantam title against Harald Geier. Got that one too.
allegedly gave him a proper TV ringwalk for his 200th fight on a Hatton undercard at the MEN Arena which was nice to see. I hope he gets rewarded well when he retires. The day Peter Buckley retires will be a sad one for boxing.

I think Buckley thought he won that fight for the WBA Intercontinental title. There was an Interview with him In Boxing Monthly a while back.
much as he deserves some recognition..he still enters the ring with no ambition to win. a controversial point i know but if it was football or snooker or another sport there would be uproar !!

I'd agree with that, It just seems wrong to give the prospects the fight but take them a distance to purposely give them rounds.
how can you compare our sport with football? the contest is fundamentally different in my opinion. buckley is in love with boxing he is also good enough to give excellent prospects a decent match up and for their handlers to look at them closely whilst not biting their nails that buckley is gonna use any means necessary to win. an absolute gem and a gift to the sport who does need people like us to try to get the authorities to give him just reward for his marvelous career.
I have just watched the Buckley v Geier fight. The scores were 116-110, 118-110 and an incredible 119-114.
I scored it 116-112 Geier scoring the last two for Peter when Geier just ran, and the 9th 10-8 for Buckley for scoring a knock down with a wicked left hook to the body.
The victory for Geier is Okay.
