Junior Macdonald - Opinions

I saw him fight a few times, thought he looked real good,
noticed he got beat by eastwood, anybody see the fight,
what happened?

And also how far do you guys think he can go?
I thought he looked real good in his first few fights.

He might be able to get to British level, but will have to see what happens the next time he takes a good shot. Eastwood isn't a renowned puncher, and he took Macdonald out.
He has good skills, but if his chin isn't there its not going to happen for him.

I saw the Eastwood fight. Apparantly, Eastwood was a late replacement following a pull-out, McDonald had sparred and managed him well so came into the ring very relaxed, very very relaxed.
1st round was a bit slow then in the second Eastwood decided to throw a few roundhouses, one tagged Junior. He covered up and rested back on the ropes while Eastwood kept throwing. While Junior was not hurt again, sheer volume of punches from Eastwood without reply caused the ref to step in and it was over.
Junior looked stunned by it all and why not. He had been talked about as a contender at cruiserweight with a chance of stepping up to heavyweight in the future, he trains hard and has a sharp brain but his confidence sometimes dulled his fire and aggression.
Some say he needed to learn a lesson like Eastwood and now he has, early in his career, so he can move on. Nothing showing for future fights yet but I hope he sticks with the sport. He might be a good price on his return and I don't see him losing again for the forseeable future.

junior was very hurt by eastwood during the fight, i admit junior seemed to be on the road to recovery when the ref stopped it..but thats boxing.

chin down guard up !!

McDonald was coming on ok as a pro, then the Maloney's cocked up and misjudged how good Junior was by dropping him in with Eastwood for the Area title and he got brushed aside.

As long as dedication hasn't taken too much of a hit he can come again.

you cant blame the maloneys (if indeed eugene still exists !!) for the match up, on paper it was a fight that junior should have won, eastwood was the underdog, junior was too laid back and expected to boss the fight from the off.

i always wondered about this guys defence.

especially being at cruiserweight.

i always thought it was a case of how good is the chin.

unfortunately eastwood proved it ain't too good.

Whilst different in style, when I first saw him in action I thought "another Pele Reid?" seemed to be hyped up a bit much, had some talent though and maybe he can come again.

yeah he's got talent.

he does have a low slung defence and that is his big achilles heel.
