and altho my crack about al-qaeda sympathizer mundine obviously was a stretch...compared to the deranged aussie, GENGHIS khan would be a role model.
It's only in contrast to an overzealous Mundine type then Khan is good. Many would say he's boring, talks gibberish, and beats up small opponents.
Mundine takes risks, he's had defeats but he's learned a heck of a lot, hence the 2 dominant wins over world class Aussies over the last year.
Right now Khan's drawing more because of his Olympic pedigree. I've never known why an Olympic medal has so much stock in pro boxing. Can no one see through the matchmaking? Probably cos millions watched him on free TV and gushing newspaper articles keep him a brand name.
But I think he'd have to start taking risky foes.

even in terms of ambition in the ring, mundine was 25 at his pro debut and had to step up rapidly because lack of amateur career had him already way behind schedule!! sure, he fought for world title in 11th bout---fortunately getting iced by light-hitting ottke...but khan was only 19 starting as a pro and needs to adjust to the pro style, so has plenty of latitude in easing into the pro ranks!! his cautious, methodical approach to is geared toward gaining low-risk experience---would he be better served by the reckless pace of olympic gold medalist david reid, who stepped up too rapidly and was shot after about 20 pro bouts?!?
i believe alot of the heat directed at amir is actually well-earned hostility aimed at his promoter warren!! but even then, you have to consider the end game which is intended to garner him a big splash in america and a HOF legacy!! contrast that to the verbally reckless mundine, who will probably never even be allowed to fight in the usa, based on his incendiary pro-terrorist statements and actions!!his only appearance in much more liberal canada was 2 months BEFORE 9/11...

I don't like Mundine but you are being a bit over the top. Mundine said things about 9/11 that were taken out of context and shouldn't have been asked in a bloody boxing interview, Its not like he started rambling on and changed the subject to 9/11. Every person has there own opinion and not every one will agree with it. He never said the people deserved to be killed on Sep 11.
They actually did an interview last year with him and his family and he seemed like a very normal guy, He talks crap to make money and he is very sucsessful at that.
