I once asked Dokes why he just didnt take a knee when he got hit with that first left. His answer : "I didnt know where my knees were".
He was blacked out before he ever went down.

Ruddock claims to have invented that looping left, but Forman actually used pretty much the same punch as far back as 69.

Now you mention it cosand, I can see the definately see similarity with Foreman's left hook. Marciano's hooks he used to knockout Harry Matthews were quite similar too.

Watching that knockout again in slow motion you wonder if it wouldn't of been better foer Dakes if Ruddock hadn't missed with that but right hand, would've saved him taking those two left hooks.

For sure. Dokes was done after the first left.
You have to give Ruddock credit , he was a sharpshooter with that looping left, even if he wasnt the first to use it.
Interesting how you see non conventional punches from some fighters, some of which become sort of their trademark. Ali's "anchor punch" comes to mind. Some say that Max Bear invented, or at least invented what beacme, the modern day overhand right. But again, Jack Johnson used a right that was very close to the same punch. Interesting stuff.

I have always maintained a motivated Johansson was a heck of a fighter.
Once you lose that drive, it's straight downhill, & the slope for Ingo was
a fast one. Machen took him lightly & paid the price. Ingo could bang. He was pretty quick, strong & very confident. I have stated in a previous post that this Johansson could have beaten Jerry Quarry. After Floyd 11, he was never the same. At his best though, he was pretty darned good.

One of the most brutal knock outs i have ever seen.
The ref made a bad call letting the fight continue for so long, Johansson allmost kills Machen in the corner and he just watches them it was a refs call like that wich killed Benny Parent.
