Careful with that advice Mel. You will be encouraging boxers to lose their passbooks.boxmel wrote:Passbooks are kept by individual boxers or their coaches. Local Boxing Committees do not keep records. If you lost your passbook and can't prove the amount of bouts you had, you'll have to start over again as a novice since there isn't any way to prove you're open. How long ago did you box?
If a boxer had more than 10 bouts and then has a "lost" passbook, that does mean they get to start over as a novice. Some boxers have tried that and they got into trouble for doing so. The boxer can fill out the registration form as a renewing member and put down his/her record and sign the form that it is true. He will then get a duplice/replacement passbook. Most LBC's will have some record or knowledge of a boxer who has had over 40 bouts.
Remember most boxers don't lie to move up to the open class, but many will try to lie to stay in the novice class.
Guess we'll have to disagree on my advice.
Most LBCs do not have records as there just isn't anyone who can spend the time tracking every boxer's wins and losses. I'm sure people can attest to the fact that someone is open or not, but won't be able to give exact numbers. And I was answering the poster's question about getting his old passbook, therefore my answer was correct. Some boxers, and coaches, will always try and cheat, not matter what.
