YEP, CARL FROCH IS WORLD CLASS
A brilliant win tonight, what a right hand bomb that was, and would have put over any SM in the world I think. Though the fat ref messed up with a panicked stopage.
Froch would give any SM in the world trouble at this stage - ok he wont win em all, but with his confidence, chin, punch and fearless attitude he'd be a live one with any of the champs out there.
Get him in with Calzaghe next, instead of another schmuck we've never heard of.

Missed the fight, came in at 10:20 thinking it was going to be a long job.
I agree with that entirely, also confirms the view the Brian Magee is a fringe world class also.
Tatesvyan was acceptable, I don't think you are going to get much better than him for a non-eliminator type bout.
Froch vs Berrio ASAP is the match I'd seek.

I have been bigging up Froch 4 years but Calzaghe beats him now. Kessler would also beat him. Ive seen Froch fight in Nottingham recently and York Hall years ago.
He needs a test, maybe a fight with Bute would be good. The EBU route may also be a good route. Hopefully his next fight will be an eliminator. The IBF seems pretty open....

Bute and Bika already have the IBF eliminator wrapped up don't they. Assuming Bute wins and goes on to beat Berrio (or whoever is IBF champ when mandatory passes)
Then a Froch vs Bute fight would seem a natural fight to make.
In the meantime though I'd like to see Froch fight Gogiya to become EBU champ, or even better, Inkin.

There's no way he'll ever fight Calzaghe. It's a fight that offers Joe nothing at all, and Froch is too good to be one of Joe's many keep busy efforts.
Kessler's the better bet for Froch's eventual title hopes, but a harder match for Froch I feel. A good jab is the key to beating styles like Froch's, and that's something that Kessler undoubtedly has. Add to that Kessler's output, and it's a tall task for Carl.
I'd like to see how he does against the likes of Bute, Berrio, or Mundine before I see him pitched in at the deep end against someone as solid as Kessler. Lacy would be a very good fight and a fair test, depending on whether or not the shoulder was the complete cause of Lacy's poor showing last time out.
Having said all that, I can't find any fault with Froch tonight, it was a very accomplished and mature showing, and a peach of a shot that knocked Tatevosyan down. I can't criticise the ref too much for the stoppage tonight either, it was clear pretty early on that Froch had the Russian's number, and there was only going to be one winner after the knockdown.

I don't know if it's just me, but Froch is starting to look far more sensible with his style. Looked really good, instinctive tonight. Very good win - what the hell was Bute doing with Tatevosyan? Making a meal out of him when he could've been a snack.
Good win for Carl. I think Calzaghe needs an all British opponent, someone with some personality. Froch is the kind of fighter who has a fight fan's attitude, and would have no problems ripping the taff for his silly (read below par, bar Lacy, last 3 yrs) choice of opposition.

Super middle really does look exciting now. Calzaghe, Kessler, Mundine becoming a real ring general and being a huge draw in Oz, Froch joining Bute, Inkin and Andrade as a dangerous fresh face ready to break through, Beyer & Lacy on the rebound, Taylor & Pavlik outgrowing 160 as I speak and a strange fight between Hanshaw and Jones Jr for novelty value! Can't say it's a dull division.

Don't forget Larsen coming back from retirement, and the two young Americans Ward and Dirrell moving along nicely. Plus there's no reason why Miranda won't move up too if the big fights are at the higher weight. It's very much shaping up to be the hot division over the next couple of years.mad gear gang wrote:Super middle really does look exciting now. What the fornicate was that stoppage about?? Im not saying the Russian was coming back but thats bullshit! You can't just stop fights like that. The guy was bobbing and weaving avoiding punches than the ref just jumps in. Wtf??
That was just pure bullshit. Their would never be any classic fights if refs like that were in charge. Refs like that rob the fans and the fighters.

I thought ref stopped it early until Tatevosyan didn't even try to complain.Lefthookhappy19 wrote:What the eff was that stoppage about?? Im not saying the Russian was coming back but thats bullshit! Froch/Inkin would be a belter and it would make a nice change to see two of the prospects at SM actually fight each other instead of waiting around hoping a title fight falls in their lap.lvlarc wrote:Bute and Bika already have the IBF eliminator wrapped up don't they. Btw, excellent win by Froch. He's the real deal.

Since first watching him on HBO's Spanish channel (I forgot the exact name of the program, something like Boxeo de Oro) in his fight against Henry Porras, I grew to like him. He's an entertaining fighter, hard hitter, fairly intelligent but many times chooses to brawl when he could box, his defense wasn't all that but I wouldn't be suprised if he's improved. I remember him clearly beating Porras physically, then stopping to look at the ref to as if to say, "Aren't you going to stop it?" I admire that characteristic, although I wouldn't recommend doing that against top opposition, he obviously did not want to damage Porras. I wish him the best of luck, he seems to be doing quite well, i'd appreciate it if anybody can post a link to some of his more recent fights. Thanks in advance.

First of all, it was a bullshit stoppage. It was a little early.mad gear gang wrote:...what the hell was Bute doing with Tatevosyan? Making a meal out of him when he could've been a snack..
I admit one thing, perhaps Tatevosyian wouldn't have made the 12 rounds.
One of the reason is, the beating he gets from Bute 60 days ago.
Come on guys... Tatevosyain was not healed completely of the beating he gets from Bute. He was already dead meat IMO.
absolutely, Larsen was quality & I'm sure he'll be in line somewhere for an IBF title fight. Miranda could easily get ranked at 168 because he already beat one.glittermonkey wrote:Don't forget Larsen coming back from retirement, and the two young Americans Ward and Dirrell moving along nicely. Yeah but he wasn't fighting back. British refs get jittery when a hurt fighter isn't returning fire.Lefthookhappy19 wrote:What the eff was that stoppage about?? Not seen the KO yet but let's get Froch in with Calzaghe NOW! No more excuses, Froch is no worse than half the pap being fed to Calzaghe including the next waster Manfredo he is fighting on April 7th in a celebrity fight.
Tatevosyan beat Markussen then took touted Bute the distance and Froch destroyed him in two rounds. Froch wants it, Britain deserves it, so does Calzaghe? His only excuse can be...Froch isn't big enough which is total bullshit. Calzaghe has been fighting no marks for long enough. Froch is bigger than Bika, Salem, Pudwill etc etc Let's get it made Frank

A really good win for Froch - I certainly didnt expect the KO, in fact I thought it would go all the way - Full credit to him for doing what Bute and Eastman couldnt do by stopping the Russian - However I think the Russian under performed probably because of the thrashing he took from Bute not so long ago - Thought the ref was a bit quick stepping in but on reflection it was all Froch and the Russian had no complaints so I think it was the right thing to do - Froch caught the Russian nicely and I dont think he wanted another flooring from Froch, once was enough - Froch carried his defense higher this time and took his opponent more seriously - No showboating just carefully picking his shots and getting the job done - To me a very improved performance from Froch which should earn him a title shot hopefully before the end of the year - I still dont like the man, confidence is one thing and arrogance is another but I have to respect the fact that Froch deserves a title shot after such a good performance - Its a real shame a domestic showdown with Calzaghe on ITV wont be happening but Kessler would be good if they can get it.
Only Berrio and Manfredo are big eough for Calzaghe.steve689 wrote:Not seen the KO yet but let's get Froch in with Calzaghe NOW! No more excuses, Froch is no worse than half the pap being fed to Calzaghe including the next waster Manfredo he is fighting on April 7th in a celebrity fight.
