This is the pick of the contender contests for me.
Two young, capable and talented fighters. A good match.
Small has the edge for me, he has sublime skills = lighting reflexes, is strong and has the kind of power and accuracy that demoralises an opponent.
He will catch Wright way to often for a Landslide points victory or maybe a stoppage.
Small will shine here.
Any thoughts?

Anthony Small so far hasn't seem to have catched people's imagination in the same way other prospects coming through have done. I find this a bit surprising as he's a great showman, a good talker, seems to have plenty of power and an exciting style.
I agree with you that Small v Wright is an intriguing match up and Walter Wright will be coming to win. I don't think we will know how good Anthony is until someone starts hitting him back, but if Small gets some exposure by beating Wright I would love to see him in with Jamie Moore or maybe more realistically a fight with Wayne Alexander (providing he can get a much needed comeback win in Newcastle)

Word is that two weeks ago, Small KO'd Wayne Alexander in sparring. Thats why Wayne is not in contenders cause of a 28 day ban.scrap iron wrote:Anthony Small so far hasn't seem to have catched people's imagination in the same way other prospects coming through have done. Have to agree, to much fannying about. I cant see him making it past domestic level tbh. As for fighting Jamie Moore, he'd be decimated.TerribleTerry wrote:I dont really rate Small half as highly as some here do.
Only seen Wright on the contender, he might just been good enough to be the roy jones clone..

For me, the potential for Anthony Small is huge. He's got lightening reflexces, speed, power, ability etc. There is so much scope for him progress within boxing.
I think Anthony will beat Wright & quite convincingly too. I have known Anthony a long time, since the days when he was at Fitzroy Lodge, and he's got that star quality. Not just with boxing, but he very calm, collected and generally a nice person to be around.
Small vs Wright is definitely the pick of the bunch. I hope Anthony goes far in boxing.
