Taylor seeks another Title shot

Post by Marlin »

After defeating Dechapon Suwunnalird, 9-7-1(4), and winning the Vacant IBF Australasian Light Middleweight Title Taylor now says he wants a shot at Cory Spinks and his IBF Light Middleweight Title. Apparently Taylor has the backing of IBF!?!

Personally I think this is a terrible match up where Taylor has a real chance of being the first opponent Spinks' has knocked out since early 2001. Taylor is well past his best (which wasn't very good) and at the very least he would lose every round to the skilled but light punching champion. But as I said I wouldn't be surprised if an accumulation of punches forced the TKO. I think Taylor should have called it quits a long time ago...

About time one of the sanctioning bodies got it right. Surely one can be no more deserving of a title shot than after a victory over Dechapon Suwunnalird.

Hang them up Shannan... before you get seriously hurt.

Taylor was finished the day he was KOd by Mosley, He has never been the same since and lost all his punch resistance. Spinks would easily out box him but you never know if Taylor can land a bomb as he has heavy hands at 154.

Robbie Bryant (2-0-0, 1ko) has sparred with Shannon Taylor, and told me that he didn't think that much of him.

At least Spinks doesn't punch hard, but tht may not matter as he would probably stop Shannon on accumulation of blows. If he gets a shot good for him = amoney fight and he can get out, oterwise he wil keep busy fighting fifth raters

Surely you need to fight someone in the top 20 to get a shot.
I like Shannan but his best years are far behind him. I think a fight that I would pay to see would be Shannan Taylor Vs Nader Hamden.
