August 3rd, 1955 Exhibition Bout

http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/rocky.htm

^^^just noticed CBZ updated the Marciano 'record'

The 'Lost' Fight of Rocky Marciano :TU:

Previous opponent from 1951 bout, fights Marciano again, while as champion.

Of his 23 career losses, he only lost 4 by TKO or KO; Marciano, Jackson and the other two were opponents when he first started out. Guys like Valdes and Williams were unable to knock him out. (concerning Keene Simmons).

Cyber Boxing Zone doesn't have the amount of rounds for the exhibition. So maybe we should go searching on that.

I reckon 'Rocky50Project' doesn't have to search any further. That's the ONLY other bout Marciano had in his career that was ever 'written off' or forgotten, least until now.

Not unless you consider the 'Fight Muscular Dystrophy' 'bout' with Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin as referee as a fight

Marciano fought Felix Antonio and Keene Simmons in public sparring sessions throughout August & Sep while training at Grossingers in NY.

Marciano fought a number of exhibitions -- his first 4 exhibitions after he won the title are as follows:

1953
Nov 23 Bob Golden Oakland Exh KO 2
Nov 23 Toxie Hall Oakland, CA Exh 2
Nov 24 Bob Golden Sacramento, CA Exh 2
Nov 24 Toxie Hall Sacramento, CA Exh 2

He then began a tour of the "Orient", fighting in Manila, Guam, Tokyo, etc and had another 25 or so exhibition bouts with the same two spar mates. His last of that year was Dec 20 at honolulu.

Yes and Marciano also fought Jerry Lewis in an exhibition,

with Dean Martin as the referee.
