Cruiserweight Trevor Small

Post by wouter »

A long time ago I saw Trevor Small knocking out Phil Soundy and I was very impressed. Does anyone have any recollections of him or know what became of him, apart from his boxing record?

I used to know Trev: a lovely bloke.

When I was a youngster he was a pro training out of the same gym. (Birmingham Irish ABC in Lea Hall). I think Trevor was form the North Solihull area nearby. He was a hard trainer and was always in excellent condition. He willingly gave over time to spar with, and help out, the youngsters, which was a nice touch – he didn’t have to do that.

He was a cruiser built along similar lines to Holyfield. Despite his impressive physique he never touched weights, insisting instead that 100 press-ups a day was all he needed to maintain his build.

A lot of his fights were on dinner shows as I remember, few being televised. He had a nice, snappy jab and moved fairly well but he wasn’t laden with power.

No idea what he is doing now but I would be interested in seeing that fight you have – do you have it electronically available so I could download it perhaps??
