Yep, Houston (SE TX) sent 10 fighters to Ft.Worth. ALL 10 made it to semifinals, and 7 made it to finals, with 6 champions. If Jesus Mendez and Gerardo Ibarra had won the local tournament, we may have had 8 champs!
Yanez was the class of the tournament, and Williams was close behind.
PS I have video of all the fights..

I know that many Golden Gloves tournaments have started. Where are the results?
Come on, lets post the results. The Las Vegas Regional Golden Gloves are this weekend and no results have been posted for the qualifiers to reach the Regional tourney. I assume that Michael Hunter is the Nevada winner and will be competing in the Regional tourney this weekend. Is that correct?

I hope someone can list the entire results from the Las Vegas Regional Golden Gloves. The results I have found so far are interesting.

201: David Imoesiri, Tacoma B.C., decisioned Andrew Hernandez, Arizona.

Greater Kansas City Regional Golden Gloves
Kansas City Golden Gloves are March 23, 24 & 30.
I hope to post the final results asap.
Kansas City has a better turn out this year than the last several years especially in the Novice division so hopefully this is a sign that amateur boxing at least in this region is on the rebound.
BTW...I was informed last night that 50% of amateur boxers do not renew for a second year! Boxing is a lot harder than it looks!

Look out for domonic wade he won the regional tourny at 165 for dc, maryland va and north carolina. Kid is an absolute beast. he just turned 17 and to get to the finals he beat Fernando Guerreo who just won the midwestern tourny at 165 last week and beat Jimson Adebusoye who is representing the east central region in the us championships.

These are the current top five at 165 Lbs. They have years of open experience over Domonic:
1. Shawn Estrada, E. Los Angeles, Calif.
2. Edwin Rodriguez, Worcester, Mass.
3. Jonathan Nelson, Little Rock, Ark.
4. Daniel Jacobs, Brooklyn, N.Y.
5. Shawn Porter, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
I don't know that one is more of a "favorite" than any of the others; they'll all be hard to beat (although Estrada usually beats himself).

METRO DETROIT
THE DETROIT GOLDEN GLOVES TEAM IS VERY GOOD TO SO WATCH OUT FOR THEM
For the 165 class, I am pulling for my friend Shawn Porter. However, making the Olympic team can be about luck - luck of the draw or bad luck-injury or illness. There are a lot of good boxers at 165 and if any of those boxers come to the qualifier without their A game, they will get beat.
The same thing holds true for most of the other weight classes. I do believe that Rau'shee Warren could go to the qualifier with his B game and still win. He is about the only one. Anyone else gets sick and they will have a hard time winning.
