Contender US vs UK

Post by stujones »

Just a note to report the results as a "Spoiler" the show/s will eventually be televised on UK TV.

But please feel free to discuss the results, as I especially am looking forward to this and cannot wait for the TV programme.

Why the fekking hell isn't this being shown live!? I'm rather bewildered by this, seems a massive promotional opportunity lost to me.

I mean it's great that they are going to get US exposure, but why is it not being screened concurrently in the UK.

It's not for boxing fans james, it's gonna be the same crappy highlights that were shown on the US version featuring each of them saying how they are fighting for their families etc, aimed at casual sport and reality tv fans.

It'll make the boxers more of a household name but it won't please us who have heard of them and just want to see the fights in full, preferably live

Yes, but this isn't part of the actual contender series, or is it? I'm a little confused.....this should still be shown in the UK, it's a good chance to build a fanbase in THIS country, where most of these guys are virtual unknowns.

it will be shown in the UK but over a number of weeks with a show dedicated to each fight, exactly like the contender series...

i'm not excusing it, i think it rubbish for us but look what it has done for peter manfredo and at least Warren's boys aren't going to be promoted by the contender team

Oh right, that's ok then, I take it all back, I didn't realise they were 'contenderising' it....thought it was just a 'contender style' one off tournament.

Excellent, in that case, good job!

I wonder how Boxing News will handle this. With a previous contender series, I seem to remember them publishing some of the results before it had been shown to the UK audience and some people complained. BN quickly reverted to covering the fight only after it had been shown on ITV.

As a trade mag, I think they have the right to cover it as it happens.

Can't wait for Paul Smith's episode. I wonder if they'll have to put subtitles on it, so the yanks can understand the scouse accent! :D

The Nigel Wright and Paul Smith results are up on the allegedly.tv website (looks like someone has put them up on Boxrec too :TU: ).

These fights were not part of the 'Sugar Ray Cup' so they may not be televised :box:

Not sure if they are gonna put the rest of the results up :-?

Which fights are part of the 'Sugar Ray Cup'?

I also heard that the Reid versus Brinkley fight isn't part of the cup, so what is?

They're up on http://www.allegedly.tv If you're going to discuss them on here, put them in a seperate 'spoiler' thread, because some people are trying to avoid seeing the results until the fights are shown on ITV.

"contenderising" it...good one---kind of softening it like a steak additive for ease of public consumption!! :TU:

contenderising: the act of setting scenes of discombobulation to emotive music
