A bout that slipped the net.

Post by stujones »

Cannot believe that I didn't realise (untill it was too late) that Jhonny Gonzalez made his comeback after that epic with Vasquez at the weekend. He fought former World champion Irene Pachecco in a very tough looking comeback bout (for both guys). Gonzalez is still WBO Bantam Champion and that belt was on the line.

Gonzalez won via 9 round TKO

Here's the report.

Yes, strange looking URL - but it is the report.

Yeah very good win this for Jhonny Gonzalez , show's he's still got it at this weight division.
I thought he might have some wear and tear on him after the loss to Vazquez, but looked as good as ever according to reports.
Where he goes now will be interesting, there's not any big names at Bantam, so will he stay there looking to make money on a string of defences, or will he risk moving up again to take on the super bantams, all the champions look strong there with the likes of Marquez , Molitor, Ponce de Leon and Caballero .

but Jhonny is a huge bantam, and he WAS fighting a former fly (albeit a big, weight drained fly...)

True, so does he stay a huge bantam, or go up and fight Huge Super Bantams?

Yeah i was meaning to mention this in a topic but forgot, good win for Gonzalez even though Pacheco was never quite the same after Darchinian beat him. Pacheco fought a Mexican on Boxeo Telemundo or one of those sorts of programmes and got a bit of a gift decision i recall.

Here is another fight report:
