Akbar Abdullah

Post by worldwide »

The first fight on his record: 81-04-23 vs Phil Capobianco in Hauppague, NY might be a different fighter. The opponent is listed as Abdulah Akbar on Capobianco's record in RRB.
Akbar Abdullah fought just a few weeks earlier in Minnesota and was knocked out in 2.
Does anyone have a report of the New York fight card and is able to determine the hometown of the Abdulah Akbar on that card?
Thanks.

In the third feature, there was a bit of a buzz as Capobianco fought someone billed as “Jamar Arbubakar”, the fine Newark middle.
This turkey was a “Jamal Akbar”.

Thanks Blue! Great work.

We got the date clarified (it had been off by 10 days) as well as my suspicion as far as Akbar Abdullah goes. I don't think that it was Jamar Arbubakrr (or whatever the spelling of his name is) either since his record seems more or less confirmed both by us at Boxrec and Fight Fax.

No wait!
It's a typo; the date is still April 23, 1981.
I afraid you'll have to lower my grades to fair. :(
