Boxing "rule" recently established on boxrec

Boxing "rules" expert Dempseyfire has "established" the "fact" that any fighter going into the ropes as the result of a punch is "knocked down" according to the "rules" of boxing.

He established the fact that this is a boxing "rule" by quoting an "opinion" from a internet website.

Boxrec resident "rules" expert Dempseyfire will now post a tape from his favorite, UTUBE,

showing the beginning of the Doug Jones-Ali fight

where Jones staggered Ali with a right hand 15 seconds into the opening round

which caused Ali to stagger backwards until he hit the ropes.

And then "rules" expert Dempseyfire will show us all how the referee counted over Ali and called that a "knockdown."

It's IF THE ROPES ARE THE ONLY THING PREVENTING YOU FROM GOING DOWN! THE MAJOR SANCTIONING BODIES ALL HAVE THIS ESTABLISHED.

I asked you before to show me any proof that rule is NOT in effect, but you cannot.

Where is the tape showing the referee counting, Dempseyfire?

From the WBA championship rules:

3.1 A boxer shall deemed to be "down" when any part of his body, except his
feet, makes contact with the floor of the ring, or when he hangs helplessly
over the ropes as a result of a legal blow according to the judgment of the
referee, who is the only authorized person to determine when a boxer has
suffered a knockdown.

or when Dempsey knocked Tunney into a draped postion on the ropes in the 4th round of their first fight.

Witless John's WBA also decrees that a fighter knocked down three times in a round is "knocked out."

Witless John never heard of

Dempsey-Willard,

Patterson-Johannson I,

Virgil Akins-Vince Martinez,

Dempsey-Firpo,

Jimmy Carter-Tommy Collins, etc.

The WBO rules state:

3, There is NO Standing Eight (8) Count.

4. There is NO Three (3) Knockdown Rule.

I particularly love how you are choosing two Dempsey fights which occured when it was still legal to stand over your opponent and club them once their knees were off the canvas.

Yes- The first Patterson-Johannson fight took place in the bare knuckle era.

I agree. I only responded in this thread since he completely made it up on one of my posts and I couldn't resist calling him out one more time.

No more responses. I do wish some of the moderators could see that this guy is trolling non-stop. I can't look into any threads without him turning it into complete nonsense.

Rules "expert" Dempseyfire can't shows us where the Jones-Ali referee applied this phony "rule."

Or where the referee in the first Dempsey-Tunney fight applied his false "rule" when Tunney fell draped over the ropes from a Dempsey left hook to the neck in the 4th round.

So now he reverts to the refuge of all phonies who are NAILED.

He whines that the "moderators" must rescue him from being exposed as a phony "rules" expert.

granberry you may think you have an odd ally with me on this one.....but your opinions or "facts" do not seem to exist simply to anger others. You have a strong combative and outspoken way about you....but your opinions are just that. I find myself in agreement from time to time and in disagreement from time to time.

This is not the type of thing a mod needs to get involved with.....you may want to lighten up on the name calling when others don't agree with you but that's just a suggestion....you've never gone over the line of decency that I have seen.

Usually if you are into the ropes and helpless then a ref is much more like just to stop the fight rather than call it a knockdown. If the ropes are the only thing holding you up.
