Sky Box Office on Virgin Cable?

Having had Virgin Cable installed, I'm a bit worried that I can't find Sky Box Office on its list of channels.

Is it available on Virgin? If so, how do I get it/order events?

Is this part of the dispute between Sky and Virgin?

If you're referring to boxing, when they are box office PPV fights, aren't the available through more than one outlet? It's just a free channel which they can use to broadcast. Theoretically, it shouldn't matter whether you have sky box office, as Virgin will just select a channel for the broadcast.

I wouldnt have thought so - can understand why Sky would deny a chance to purchaser their own product.

Hey, I thought we only lost Sky One & a coupla other channels?? Cuntwits at virgin have already lost those channels, put me SS bill up, bastards better not have done any more damage.

I have to say, having Telewest has been a pain in the ear hole. Virgin pretending to sexy it all up has come to nought, less than nought. You can never get in touch with the faggots - STILL - if your bill never arrived it's £10 to have them send another out, they cut you off if the payment hasn't cleared the exact day and the Q to put u back on is massive and takes aeons.

Any more nonsense, and all I can say is

I have to say Virgin TV on demand is the best thing since sliced bread, my days off are filled up with watching Black Books, Red Dwarf, Spaced, Garth Marenghi, Doctor Who, Shameless, saving me a heck of alot of money on forking out for dvd's.

And to answer the original question, yes, you can get box office.

Sky are going to be doing something very similar with their movies channels soon, and Homechoice have been doing an on demand service for absolutely ages, over 1000 movies, and loads of TV shows in the archive.

Well, they may well want to do so. After all, instead of that one off 15 quid, they can get the tasty subscription fees if they get people to piss off back to sky.

Though they didn't have a Sky box Office channell, NTL Digital Cable certainly carried the Box Office bills.

Its not exactly on demand though, you have to download the programme or film , thus its more like download , wait and then watch. With Virgin its all there anytime, satellite technology does not allow you to watch when you want, only cable can.

Im pretty sure you buy it like the old NTL way, I can't exactly remember how, but I wanted to be sure of this when I rang Virgin and they said its the same as the old way.

Hi mate,

You press the blue - ON DEMAND button and it brings up movies, shows etc. I then think you press the red button as this is for pay per view, then it brings up, sport, movies and porn. Select sport and bobs your uncle a list of all PPV sports for the next 48 hours is displayed.

The only ball ache is that you can only order 48 hours in advance, when I first got NTL/Virgin I was bricking it thinking they wouldn't have it but their customer service department assured me they get all Sky Box Office events and they appear only 48 hours before.

Since I've had it I've bought all the PPV from Hatton vs. Maussa with no problems.

If you press the 'Home' button on your remote, then go to More on Demand (opt 6) then to live events (opt 7), you can see current or futrure live events , there is no boxing on there yet, but there will be.

Freeview is cable. Who cares if you have to download it anyway? It only takes about 30 seconds.

Not exactly, reading some of the Sky forums, you have to download it via your broadband connection, for most ppl this has taken ages, especially for a film, and then you have to pay for it as well. Virgin on demand (I wish) you either pay I think a fiver for a month, or you get it free depending on the tv packages, HBO is coming to Virgin this month, so we also get Sopranos and Curb Your Enthusiasim in the library.

Ah right. On freeview it just did it automatically via the TV service, and was very quick. It was streaming though after an initial download to get the buffer up and running.

Not as far as I am aware, but some of the shows I mentioned earlier and others like 'Band Of Brothers' will be available on demand. I doubt they will show live sports but more of HBO's library of films and shows.

and an important note for dunces like me, it doesn't tell you anywhere but for the love of god don't change the channel once a pay per view event has started because you'll end up getting locked out when you try to go back to watching it again = missing the action and a £15 bill anyway!
