ITV poor coverage

Post by tonyevs »

I thought the fights they showed tonight did nothing to draw people to the game.

Tak v Jennins......so boring....and the commentry so annoying..again :-?

Enzo v Gunn........predictable :(

Pryce v Awinbono....the rnds they showed did not compliment the winner

Khan v Bull.............more of the same one-sided bull-shit :(

Calzaghe v Manfredo.....did not big up Calzaghe at all.

The American audience will think badly of British boxing....the boo-ing of the anthem...the premature stoppage ...and the typical over hype of Khan...if they think he`s our best prospect then they`ll think our game is in worse condition than their heavyweight division :D

So glad I didn`t bother going to the show :TU:

A couple of years ago, Takaloo could well have been favourite; what's happened to him?

Yeah: from the Pryce rounds shown it looked like a draw. But that's surely because the opening half was one-sided, therefore boring?
Funnily enough, Awinbono was the fighter who impressed me most on the card. Nothing special, just a good challenger. Nice to see a bit of competition for a change!

Poor matches, not poor coverage.

Takaloo draining himself to Welterweight was a mistake especially as he's getting older and has never been a natural Welter.

Judges scores were crap though Jennings won every round but I guess you could argue Tak got one round.

At best I think you could give Tak two level rounds. I guess his problem is being too big for one weight, while ineffective at the other.

Barry McGuigan has turned into the biggest yes man on the TV, talk about selling out, it's no surprise who pays his wages. Rawling and McKenzie are only slightly more tolerable. I get the feeling Rawling is dying to speak out against the shit being served up.

I couldn't believe the scoring in the Takaloo-Jennings fight...115-114?? 115-113?? Jennings won by a country mile. Guess which belt was on the line too? The same as Matthews-Simpson, the WBU. Another scoring controversy from this alphabet organisation. Why can't the BBBC stop sanctioning these arseholes.

Bazza and Leonard looked inconsolable. Their effing Contender got exposed as an American wet dream for Rocky wannabes.

Terry O'Connor scored the contest 120-109 to Pryce! Christ, he was having a mare last night.

A marginal sport like boxing getting live terrestrial coverage in prime time, and you get people complaining.

Why dont you guys get a promoters licence and put on a few shows?

well funny, but instantly corrected. Smart arse.
Incidentally, do you have a grammatical understanding of the language. What is "well" funny?
Barry, I suspect, was merely saying that Amir needs to keep learning. But if the chips were down, he would win.

Yeah maybe that was the point he was making but just didn't make too much sense when he first said it.

Awinbono and jennings should have got 'fighter of the night' if such a thing existed. Enzo was good while it lasted but it was a shyte opponent.

Id pay to see Awinbono in with Gary Woolcombe - that i feel is a good matchup, esp after Wollcombe was exposed vs Facey, a win over Awinbono in light of their respective last perfomances would do him wonders

It was poor coverage IMO. a 15 fight bill and what do they show 4 and 1/2 fights.

Is the Lockett vs Blundell fight being shown on another day (like they did with Enzo vs Dominguez/Rhodes vs Lockett).

It’s looking very doubtful, Stu. I had a look on the schedules on Sky and it just said about Calzaghe, Khan and Enzo.

I'd like to see Lockett’s fight amongst others.

i saw lockett fight on Russian tv it was good but one sided, locket got into some unnecessary exchanges on the ropes but killed Blundell to the body.
