I'm sure that ITV said that he's JC sparring partner... Is this true?

He should be pushing for a shot at the European.

More WBU defences then a descent into further obscurity. Won't touch the European with a bargepole.

When did you become so jaded Steve?? Lockett isn't exactly turning down offers of British and European shots left right and centre.... He'd love a chance like that, and he'd make a good fight of it!! The truth of it is he's been dumped on a shelf for too long, and is trying to make the best of the situation by taking the fights Warren offers. That or f*ck all!

He's a good lad Gary, who deserves more from the game for the effort he's put in. So he lost one fight 5 years ago...... Career limbo since?!?! He doesn't deserve that! Gary has got the tools to demolish probably every Middle in the country, yet has he ever been given any decent breaks? How many chances did Elcock, Williams, Farnell etc get?

Hope now he's at the Calzaghe gym, Enzo will have more of a say in Gary's career.

Tell me, what chances did Richard Williams get?

Richard Williams would beat Lockett AND on ITV

He's had various oppertunities that he has squandered (Taylor, Martinez, Eastman), and even though he has lost he has not been left on the shelf as Gary was after a single solitary defeat. Now I knew you'd probably reply to this DG, but please this thread is not about RW It is about Lockett.

Now as I said Gary is a quality fighter, who deserves to be afforded the same oppertunities as other fighters.

Gary is not following the WBU route instead of others, it's the only route available. It's that or the wilderness.

Who is the Euro champ right now, Asikainen? That looks like a decent fight on paper. I think Lockett himself realises that he's a bit short of world class, but the Euro title isn't beyond him.

Correct. He's never claimed to be Jermain Taylor!

He's got alot to offer the game, just not getting the breaks. Boxing can be so frustrating in this way!?!?!

With the British up for grabs watch....... Elcock Williams be made, without Lockett getting a sniff.

The 3 you mentioned are better then anyone Lockett has faced.

RW squandered?

Lockett would not make it out of the 3rd vs Eastman - martinez woukd troune him - Taylor moist likely would also,

Me saying RICHARD WILLIAMS beats lockett on ITV is about Lockett!

Look WHO Lockett lost to anf HOW he lost to him.

Tsarenko? - a Journeyman.

IF A JOURNEYMAN BEATS YOU TO A PULP YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET ANY MEANINGFUL FIGHTS.

HE ALSO LOST TO THAT OTHER GUY - MOUGHANAN? - BUT GOT THE DECISION.

RW beat Taylor who fought SHANE MOSLEY 6 months before.

Lost to Martinez only beaten my MARGARITO.

Took the fight to EASTMAN the way BERNARD HOPKINS did not.

BTW - Lockett is JUST a puncher.

If Lockett dropped the TOILET belt he could fight for the British.

The only way Lockett would beat RICHARD WILLIAMS is if Williams strapped a Sheep to his arse.

Utter twat! If you can't talk sense dont talk at all. Truth is Lockett would destroy Williams who is faded, shit and old. DG you are nothing but a wanna be RW hanger on who kisses his arse and talks nonsense.

Told you, this was meant to be a thread about Locketts career, not the faded has been you idolise. The point was how can he drop the WBU?? If he does that and pisses Warren off, what effort will Warren make to get him title fights....?? None.

Now please just shut up with your rubbish, if you cannot contribute F*ck off, 'n take your head for a dump you Brixton slag!

That's a valid point - Lockett seems a really decent guy who trains hard, but just doesn;t seem to get the breaks - it's a shame.

He's got the power to KO any middleweight in the country, I'd love to see him against Eastman, Elcock or Williams, I don't believe he's got the skills to beat Asikainen, but think he'd give him a good go none the less.

I've only just managed to watch this from Russian TV! - I can;t believe ITV didn;t show this!!!

He not ranked by EBU due to his WBU title. The WBU does not lead to much.

Calm down Gareth/Hywel/Boyo

Warren does not give Lockett the fights because Lockett is just not that good.

You think Warren would put Lockett in with RW?

Lockett struggles domestically and that is a fact.

What has Lockett ever won? - who has he ever beaten?

Lockett should go and join Maloney, Locketts belt does nothing for him apart from money, which is important when you have to make as much money as you can in a short space of time.

RW has only lost to WORLD CLASS FIGHTERS ( with the exceptiopn of an early career points loss).

Lockett should get more breaks - but it is partly his own fault when he holds that load of shit belt.

Typical Warren fighter, just fighting fights he is 100% sure of winning or fighting a stable mate.

Now, JAMRAG, stop calling people names, its childisgh, you welsh sheep shagger and this forum is not the place to make snide remarks, you valley rent boy.

You sucking Lockett?

Lockett's heading nowhere IMO. Warren's strangling the life out of his career. Hearn, too, did a pretty awful job with Williams, but at least Richard has a real title to show for his efforts and creditable challenge for the British title against the best middleweight in the UK for years.

Lockett-Blundell was a poop match for someone at Gary's stage of his career and he's probably going to suffer as a result of such poor opposition.

Gary's a bright lad with dynamite in his fists, I wish he'd ditch SN.

I agree that RW should have been handled better!

Lockett, I agree is going nowhere and Lockett must know it, I doubt lockett can go any higher, so he might as well wait for Warren to get him the WBO if it is ever vacant ( seems to be the trend now )

Given Lockett's high ranking with the WBO he should be due a shot at Taylor soon

I dunno, I used to think they were just biding their time to get him a shot at the vacant WBO but i'm not sure if Warren can be arsed with him. In the list of SN fighters awaiting a title shot he is below the likes of Cook, Arthur and Skelton. Ideally he would drop the WBU and get himself in the mix domestically and maybe Euro level (although I think Asikainen beats him comfortably)

Jeez DG, how come any Middleweight thread you talk on has to be turned back to RW??

And quit it with the racist remarks about us Welshies... You'd hit the fornicating roof if turned around and called you a fuckin spade, so give it a rest.

I'm not doubting RW, and I do genuinly like him, but he's well past his sell by date, and Lockett would destroy him! Eastman would have done it sooner if he had any motivation. Lazy old bastard just waited for it to happen.

I'd love Gary to ditch the WBU and go British type route, but he is not in the position to be choosey. I'm afraid some of you do not understand the nature of the pro game if you cannot see that.

Shut up Jimmy Jam Rag, RICHARD WILLIAMS is a middleweight that YOU mentioned so, I just put you straight on RICHARD WILLIAMS opposition.

Spade? - what is this this phrase that you use?.

It is common knowledge you Welsh people shag sheep. :D

AND, there are Black People in Wales, so it may be deemed racist - but it is a different kind of racism, more gentle humor.

Eastman was in no position to risk going for the finish the fight RW until the 12th.

AND, do not be so ignorant, I FULLY understand the working of the Pro game, do you?.

I GUARANTEE you that Lockett holds onto that shitty belt because it pays more than NOT having a belt.

WTF kind of opposition will fight Lockett for Peanuts for that crap belt?

Lockett should ASK Fwak Warren to get Richard Williams for him, be nice to see RW shut both his eyes and stop him on ITV!

Lol, the gentle humour of racism, lol I like that DG.

Look allegedly is the boss. You do what he says, or you get put on a shelf. Lockett would love to fight RW! It'd be a fight we'd all love to see to. It aint gonna happen though. If Lockett dumps the WBU belt what then for him?? Warren will just leave him to rot away.

Hopefully Enzo Calzaghe will have more clout in getting him better fights.

It seems most middles have had excellent oppertunities thrown thier way (sometimes deserved as in the case of RW, sometimes not deserved (Elcock)). Lockett however has been ignored for too long.

He's a lovely lad, who's not at all arrogant. He's talanted, and he works very hard. Why has he been ignored??
