Amir, I'd be careful if I were you. If you keep this sort of arrogance up, then very soon, the tide could well turn and they'll be more people wishing you crumble, rather than do well. It takes nothing to be polite & humble. Khan is not showing these attributes.
God knows who's advising Amir, but whoever it is, it can't be very wise. Fancy coming out with comments like this. Making such statements, in such an arrogant way, is disrespectful to his peers, who have worked hard to get where they are & have probably not even got have the financial incentive Amir has.
If I were Khan, I'd remember what happened to Naseem. Hamed was a brilliant fighter, but when he was defeated, undone, exposed, I got the feeling there were more people glad rather than upset.
KHAN talks about Thaxton/Earl/Murray/Mitchell
Yes I do, and Willie deserves better than that, as do the paying public.silkov wrote:Yeah, but dont you get the feeling that he's going to be left hanging around waiting for the fight till its his first bout for a year or so?.... meaning that he will be lacking a bit of edge at least??....KOJOE90 wrote:I've always been a fan of Limmonds and think he is a very good Boxer at domentic level, but he does lack punch power and has been inactive of late. Having said all that he would be by some way the best fighter Khan has faced as a professional and would be a very good match, later this year (to allow Willie a tune up bout or two).
No its his manager who was the taxi driver.silkov wrote:He's advised a lot by his uncle I believe, who used to be a taxi driver!... which says a lot really I think!....Rocky Balboa wrote:ARROGANT LITTLE FCUKER.

I would Hessitate to put the blame on Amir's family when both Amir and Joe Calzaghe and Enzo Mac and Ricky Hatton all say they are better than anyone else in the country but fail to fight legitimate contenders be they Froch, Murry, Witter, and Haye etc so what do those 4 have in common, a certain promoter has worked with all of them for a deal of time at some point or another..
Khan needs a step up in class but Limond is the easiest possible low risk option available and a Commonwealth belt strapped nicey around his waist.
However it all seems a bit fishy to me. After the fight Khan/Warren/McGuigan all resoundingly claimed Khan was the best Lightweight in Britain, then what fight are we supposed to be seeing next? Khan V Limond for the Commonwealth??? Well if Khan is supposedly best in Britain then why isn't he fighting the guy who is best in Britain aka the British champion Jon Thaxton?
You can't claim to be the best in Britain then fight for a Commonwealth title...it just doesn't add up. Only it works because Limond is a softer option than Thaxton who is a tougher proposition.
The point i am making is the only next respectable fight for Khan is versus Thaxton for the British title.

Exactly, but I can't see it happening, I wouldnt be surprised if Khan never fights for the British title... remember how Ricky was ushered away from the British title after he got cut up beating Thaxton for it....steve689 wrote:Khan needs a step up in class but Limond is the easiest possible low risk option available and a Commonwealth belt strapped nicey around his waist.

Amir isn't the sharpest pencil by a long way and hes clearly bought into all the hype his cousins/bredrins/ITV/Barry McGuigan/tabloid press have heaped upon him.
He beat these 12 guys easy he thinks he must be the dogs b#llocks. I honestly dont think he has the intelligence to recognise these fights a re set ups.
In the end if he is 'That Good', he would have been matched with tougher tests (solid journeymen) already, and he would be fighting Thaxton and beating them now. He's in for a hilarious Michael Sprott-styled rude awakening. Let the comedy unfold!!

And the case for the prosecution ends.
Will he win a world title?.
Amir Khan, KHANT!
I agree with PN response to Final Fight about whether his promoter can deliever. Thats the problem, its very sporadic and both fighters were long over due their shots at the big time... Calzaghe's was 10 YEARS coming and Hatton was Tszyu's long time mandatory.
We are still waiting for the promised world title shots with Arthur, Cook, Skelton/Williams/Audley etc.
I personally think Amir was TOLD to say the things he did, he KNOWS that these fights will not happen and I think now realises it will be WBU title for countless defences. So whats he going to say "Yeah, I'd love to shut up Thaxton/Murray etc but I know its not going to happen!".... Unlikely... but I am dissapointed in him for saying this and what I think is BS about Murray and him sparring.
Had Khan got a top US promoter on board then I am sure he will be fighting a much better callibre of opponent.

I too am fed up with his arrogance but ITV are largely to blame by giving him star status from the beginning - I can think of no other fighter who has had this level of treatment and it has all gone to his young head - Hammed and Eubank were recognized early in their careers as potential world champions and got lots of exposure which made them arrogant also, but they still didnt get the treatment Khan is getting - Yes I suppose he is insulting Thaxton, Earl, Murray etc who have all had to have hard fights to get to where they are now - However I am sure Jon Thaxton knows Khan is nowhere near being ready for challenging him for the Lonsdale belt and so does FW - I dont think the BOLTON LIP is really getting to any of them - Khan will of course lose fans though if he carries on mouthing off - People will watch him for the wrong reasons, to see him beaten, rather than to support him to win - The boos will come if he doesnt change his tune.

Good post mate but why did you mention the A word and spoil it - Khan may turn out to be another gob almighty fighter in a horizontal position especially if he fights Thaxton.stujones wrote:I agree with PN response to Final Fight about whether his promoter can deliever. the kind of talk amir is indulging in is not exactly ALI class.
if i was him i'd bore everyone stupid by saying "ok, by the time i get thaxton in the ring i'll be ready to beat him inside the distance" no insult just a strong statement of intent or "its my aim to be the best lightweight in the world and if i have to beat the likes of murray, thaxton or katsidis to get there then so be it" no insults just factual statements. the reason people are interested in amir is not because of his clever way of belittling opponents which ALI was a master of, but because he is a flashy fighter with good looks and a bit of charisma. in other words the talking is pointless the fighting is what its about.

Have to agree with that Im afraid. One thing Amir does have is Chrisma. Thats how he sells tickets.harrygreb wrote:charisma's nothing to do with talking - its indefinable and you either got it or ya aint. whether you like him or not he's got charisma and he's an absolute cinch to sell to the media. how do you explain it?

Yeah that sounds about right. Although i am sceptical they will chase the British title, the lacklustre Commonwealth or a string of available Intercontinental baubles seems more appropriate.
The Commonwealth is a suspect title in my book, it either produces quality challengers or dire imports, other than that it's the Brits who fight for it between each other. Limond is decent but no more that's why i see Khan going for him next. Credible enough title + weak but respectable opponent = a perfect next move for allegedly!
