This fight ain't happening. We may as well resign ourselves to it now.
How many Americans will buy tickets to watch a huge fight between two Europeans though on US turf?

It's like not either Is fighting a huge Latin name In America either.

I'm still hopeful the fight happens anyway. Taylor's fighting Spinks and won't fight for another few months after that and Hopkins has Winky.

Inkin's free but will Kohl risk him against Calzaghe after Calzaghe beating Veit whos a Kohl fighter?

Have you noted the distinct lack of offers being made to Calzaghe from Palle? It seems that he is spouting off about his man but has not made one offer to JC. He wants to throw insults and then ask FW to make his man rich!

Perhaps he ain't too sure of his own mans chances of winning or he would get behind him on the cash front.

As I've said before, Palle is playing the game well, trying to make it look like Calzaghe is ducking his man, biding his time and hoping Calzaghe either retires, or slips enough to take the fight with a good chance of winning.

I agree, it's a little odd that we haven't heard any kind of counter offer aside from 'absolute parity' a term which is usually a preface to a fight not happening. In almost every fight there is someone who is a bigger draw, and asking for absolute parity is usually a guarantee the fight won't happen.

I think Palle is trying it on here.

Calzaghe is only going to fight a few more live bodies in his career before his mummified hands finally crumble into dust, I can't say I blame him for wanting to earn big time from the one or two big fights out there.

I do think however, there is a definite risk that at 168, Jermaine Taylor will beat Calzaghe. He's young, fit, strong and I think will be a lot healthier and stronger for the move up, 8 lbs is a lot of weight not to have to shift.

I'd favour Calzaghe to beat Kessler quite handily, and then he can tackle Taylor anyway.

As James says above, Palle has made an alternative offer, so your facts are wrong. At the end of the day, both parties have made an offer which neither will find suitable. As usual, politics are being played and the boxing fan is the one who is missing out.

Personally I hope that Kessler finds some sort of deal with Taylor, thus leaving Warren scratching about for an alternative. For me personally, I've heard all this political bull from Warren once too often.

If Froch is all talk then have the fight arranged and have it proved. Why not make it a double with Khan v Murray (who is also all talk apparently), it's the start of a card which can't fail for British fans.

There's no way in hell Warren will agree to a 50/50 split.

Plus, Joe is top dog, why should he agree to a 50/50 split?

We all know why this fight isn't being made, the sae reason Hatton-Witter, Haye-Macarinelli etc didn't happen so save your typing.

I disagree in this instance, I think Palle is being rather disengenuous, he knows full well there is no way he is going to get a co-promotion with Warren AND a 50-50 purse split, Warren would have to be off his fekking rocker to agree to that.

Imagine if Warren said. "Ok Palle, let's stage it in Denmark, but I want a 50-50 split and I want to co-promote the show" and Kessler was the top dog, what do you think Palle would say?

The bottom line is, these two have to reach an agreement, but I suspect it's Calzaghe - Ottke all over again, where it's not enough in the interests of EITHER party to make this fight happen.

Kessler is likely, if he is able to keep fighting, inherit Calzaghe's mantle when Joe retires, which cannot be long now, or he will simply overtake Joe in the standings, as an ageing Calzaghe rounds of his career with defences against the bottom feeders of the WBO. Either way, time is on his side.

It's like being in a boat full of gold and there's a bloke paddling water uin the sea, and he shouts over "Give me half of that gold, and I'll help you row."

Re the bold bit, in that case it can be argued that Joe needs Kessler more. Look what's happening. Warren "offers" Kessler and Taylor fights and he pisses both sides off so much that they discusss fighting each other. I hear that he only answers Palle through the media, rather than furthering negotiations...I hate to say it but that suggests it's all posturing. I think he wants Taylor but Jermain gets $5mil to fight a welterweight and 'Bad Decisions' will do this until he can no longer make middle...

Are SN incapable of making a big fight unless the other guy comes with cap in hand to Joe's backyard? They're tight fannies hence why they fought Woodhall, Reid, Brewer and Mitchell after they lost their belts.

Warren will say "we're the draw, we sold out 35,000" but we all know for all the 35,000 drunk smiley sheep riders there was maybe 5 million pissed off ppl in the UK, plenty more in America watching on FREE PREVIEW HBO not to mention unhappy ITV and HBO bosses...They fvcked up on a huge spotlight and came across as con men.

Calzaghe had some good speed and patience, but coming in the ring with that funny mustache simply furthered the impression of some great farce.

Has to be said, it's a house of cards that's falling down. Kessler? Out. Taylor? Out. Berrio? Probably out. Bute? In an elim to fight Berrio...They're creating a new orifice in which to fvck Joe's legacy.

Why not Mr Axe?

He has 2 belts, amd historically more prestigious ones at that. Plus to give over 50% of the purse is surely worthwhile for Calzaghe to cement his place in boxing history with the elite, and not as a "pretender-to-the-elite".

best wishes

Agree TMK, Kessler is more than worthy of 50/50 purse.... He has fought the better opposition of late, is also undefeated, has two belts.......

Calzaghe/Warren have NEVER had the balls to take the small piece of the pie in order to secure a long term legacy... They didnt with Ottke, they didnt with Beyer and they wont with Kessler... They arent comfort zone boys for nothing....

Thats why i dont have as much respect for Joe C as perhaps I should...

I like fighters who will take a risk.. Gatti & Ward I fighting for chump changes, Barrera & Morales I fighting for peanuts, Trinidad taking the tiny end of the purse versus De La Hoya......... They all took a gamble and with the above fights secured their place in history and meant they made tons of cash subsequently....

Calzaghe surely could have done this with Ottke, Tarver, Beyer etc. He may not have made big money in that fight but he would probably have earned more on the back of it......

COMFORT ZONE as someone once put it.

Why shouldn't he when he is coming to fight in Joes homefield. If the fight was in Denmark who much would Calzaghe want.

Bear in mind, Palle is also expecting to co-promote the fight in the UK with Warren as well.....pretty laughable.

Its not really laughable, If Joe takes the fight and wins it will set him up to earn massive amounts in the next fight or 2. Imagine the hype if he has all 4 belts and is the undisputed champion.

Joe is going to go down in history as a good fighter who never once took a big risk and avioded the best fighters of his generation through greediness.
If only all fighters were like DeLaHoya, He is one of the only fighters around today that has fought almost every top fighter around his division and above and actually stuck his neck out.

if Joe had a proper title he would have to fight Kessler eventually....
but as the WBO mandatory is laughable then he knows he is safe...

It is no coincidence at all that it is only ever Joe Calzaghe/Warren who cannot make the big fights.... Kessler travelled to Oz to fight Mundine, took a small purse against Beyer.... That shows Palle and him have some balls.

Before you mention Joe getting huge gates in wales, that is only a new thing...For years he couldnt draw flies and its only recently he has been able to fill big venues (with Amirs Help no doubt). In 2002 he was fighting Tocker Pudwill in Newcastle on Ricky Hattons undercard when he could have been fighting Ottke instead....

same reason Naz kept his WBO strap when he had the other two belts.....no REAL mandatories...COMFORT BELT

Mundine should be making big noise but then again maybe everyone knows it'd be a security nightmare. Plus, Joe would be gunning for the poor man's version of Kessler's title. Shame, as Mundine is a fine boxer and a big personality.
