Its down on Boxrec but I don't think it is confirmed that Bradley Pryce's next Commwealth Title fight is against an 8 fight novice from Ghana. He could turn out to be another Munyai - but he is already defeat (6-1-1).
Andrew Facey was credible enough, but on the whole his commonwealth reign has been against poor opponents. This just about takes the biscuit though.

Agreed Stu, the commonwealth belt is fast becoming a joke, being mostly used by promoters in the UK to justify random African imports. For every Munyai it seems there are ten Francis Miyeyusho's.
And when was the last time we saw a decent Canadian or Australian opponent over here for a Commonwealth tilt? Dale Westerman is about the last bloke I can remember from outside Africa coming over here to challenge anyone.

Sky TV pulled the money plug about 12 months ago, they do not pay the promoter s much now per show. I think he was from Uganda and you're right, DavidPayne, he was diabolical.
That said, you don't tend to get many bad Ghanians, even with sparse looking ring records. I wouldn't be surprised if this one challenging Price is actually reasonable enough.
Ayitty Powers gave an inform Richard Williams a decent challenge a few years ago, and he didn't have much of record going into that one (ok, Powers has let himself go now, but that's another story) , so you shouldn't be too quick to write off some these guys.
For every poor choice the Commonwealth Council make, they also make some solid judgements as well.

Let's be honest, the Commonwealth has been a joke for some time now. Back in the days when the British Empire still had a bit of kudos, and boxing was bigtime, it actually meant something as the commonwealth represented a very large talent pool. You beat me to it, I remembered Froch had a Canadian opponent. Ross vs Keaton
Canada's Troy Ross will be facing British Champ "Buster" Keaton for the Commonwealth in Montreal. I think this is a positive step, should be a great fight. I hope that will continue.
Ross was fighting in London a few weeks back, he knocked out Hastings Rasani in a tune up fight, he looked the Biz!

I think some of us have very high expectations for the Commonwealth title. The participants are not all going to be world class, I don't have any problem with this. For some boxers, a fortunate challenge (right place, right time) is the high point of their career. I don't like the thought of these guys being deprived this chance or having their effort, and it's considerable in some case, being cheapened.
I agree, the bizarre imports who look like they don't know their left hand from their right hand, we could well do without, but you still see a lot of decent scraps for the Commonwealth title.
Considering some of the areas the Commonwealth covers, it's run pretty well IMO....with some bad calls too from time to time.

Now the dust has settled I'd like to say that the Commonwealth title fight singled out was probably one of the better fights on that Cardiff bill(not that this is saying much!

Pryce looked like a good champion and put in a reasonable display and the challenger looked plenty worthy to me. A bit raw, but very strong and clearly knew how to bang in a good body shot.
With Eastman-Ashira coming up, Chris Edwards-Dale Robinson and Lenny Daws possibly taking on Chad Brisson for the light welter title I think the Commonwealth council receives a lot of harsh flack. They seem a lot better run than a lot of the world bodies and importantly never claim to be such.

Yep, hold my hands up - got that one wrong. I'd like to see the opponent come over again. I would like to see this fight in full cause Pryce and Enzo Calzaghe were really pleased with the performance... the rounds we saw I thought Pryce looked below his best, very open defensively.
