Jamie Moore
I think people are forgetting how much trouble Moore had with Macklin and Jones who are really only domestic or Europeon level at the most... talk of him fighting Forrest or Quartey or even Vargas is silly really... I doubt that he'll be able to get any of the top 10 fighters in the ring at this point anyway, his best option is to go for the Euro title...

Whats the point of going for top10 fighters though if he can't get a shot at 1 of the big 3 and Dzinderuk the WBO would jab him to death? Surely the only point in fighting world class fighters for a Brit is to get those world titles.glittermonkey wrote:I actually don't think that this list is as tough as it first appears. That's not to say that I'd make Moore favourite for any of the potential fights.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Despite liking Moore I don't see how he can compete at world level. Lets look at the top10 (well my top 10) I can't see him winning a round against any of them:
1. Mayweather/DLH winner WBC
2. SPinks IBF
3. Simms WBA
4. Dzinderuk WBO
5 Ouma.
6. Forrest
7 Quartey
8. Mayorga
9. Vargas
10. Martinez
I suppose he may stand a chance against fringe guys like Philips or Powell. But his best shot muct be Picciliro for the European Championship. If he wins that he cna at least say hes been a European champion
Strike the top three though; Moore won't get a match against one of them if he lives to be four hundred.
Quartey and Forrest are both old men, and clearly not the absolutely world class operators they were several years ago. Their comebacks have not been all that impressive (especially in the case of Forrest) and it seems to me that both will not be around for that much longer.
Mayorga is vastly overrated, and he too has seen better days. His power would trouble Moore I think, but there'd be little trouble in hitting Mayorga in return.
Vargas is very, very close to being finished, and I reckon he will be after his match up with Mayorga. He's badly faded.
Simms, Dzinderuk, Ouma, and Martinez are the fighters to avoid on that list. They are the freshest and the hungriest, and unfortunately probably the easiest for Moore to get a shot at. I agree that (if it can be made) a match with Piccirillo would be ideal. It's very winnable, is a decent marker for how much higher up Moore can go, and would give a decent boost to his world ranking.
Goto diagree with Quartey, hes still world class, been robbed against Forrest and going close with Winky Wright proves this. Forrest while past his best is still World Class and a a level above.
Vargas looks shot I agree, if Moore was goign to upset 1 fighter it maybe Vargas BUT Vargas had some decent wins prior to Mosley - not top10 but on Moores level and they seemed to come easily.
I hope Moore fights Picorillo when hes in his prime. Thats something to tell the grandkids about, getting battered by Dzinderuk/Martinez may not sound as good.

Moore looked like the class pro that he is. Shame Lujan didn't come to fight, but Jamie got his tactics spot on. Use his boxing skills and keep something in reserve, just in case Lujan suddenly fancies the job.
Moore has seriously paid his dues to the domestic scene, so if the EBU title is tied up....forget it and move towards an eliminator for one of the big 3.

Hiya fella's, enjoyed reading all the comments. Lujan was a little negative but wasn't that different to the tapes of fights we had of him, he seems like he tries to make you work and then catch you by surprise, so I just made sure I didn't fall for it. Regarding the comments regarding me stepping up to world level, if I could get a european shot then i'd obviously like to go that route, it's the traditional route, but it isn't possible. Piccirillo isn't interested so theres nothing I can do. So why shouldn't I set my goals higher instead of going back to domestic level, where i've been on top for 4 years now. I want to be the best I can be so if I don't try I'll never know. I have a little card in my bag which I take to every fight and it has a verse in it that say's, "it is better to have tried and not succeeded, than to have not tried at all for fear of defeat". I think that sum's up my attitude spot on, and i've had a few little knocks along the way but ALWAYS come back better from it. Now everyone who thinks I should avoid the bigger names, stop being mard!!!
No matter what happens it'll be good to watch.
Great post Jamie and a fantastic attitude. You might not be able to beat the best but I hope you get the chance and i'm sure whoever you fight will know they've been in one at the end.
Any chance of you fighting any of the names that have been mentioned? Martinez, Phillips, Powell??? Are you planning of giving up the British title now?

Fair do's mate, if you think there's a chance of winning, which in boxing I suppose there always is, then, give it a shot. Not easy to get a title shot, so I can understand your wanting to go for it. Would be nice to work towards it in the time honoured fashion, to get the right experience for the next step up, but then again, don't want to wait around until it is too late.Mooresy wrote:Hiya fella's, enjoyed reading all the comments. Lujan looked like a dangerous sod, although he didn't really come to fight as such, the way he would suddenly switch on after long periods of doing eff all must have made it quite an awkward fight.
Jus been watching the DVD of Moore-Lujan. I thought Jamie looked different against Lujan - it was a more polished effort and I enjoyed it. Lujan was a top ten welter yet Moore applied some class pressure, made the guy work when he wanted to rest, and generally outclassed the man. That was a very good performance, but I do think a fight with the cagey Piccirillo would be useful.
Looks like Martinez doesn't want the fight because he has a WBC elim or something? That's an interesting fight but risky for both sides right now. But with Martinez being a guy who fights over here it does sound like 1 to wait for.

None of this talk of Moore having world potential came up until he beat Macklin though either.silkov wrote:I think people are forgetting how much trouble Moore had with Macklin and Jones who are really only domestic or Europeon level at the most... talk of him fighting Forrest or Quartey or even Vargas is silly really... Macklin doesn't look that proven though to be judged at Euro level though like Jones. Jones defence was too reliant on covering up against Picirillo though.
I'd love the chance to fight any of those three mentioned, it's just making the fights. It seems a lot of fighters don't want to fight unless it's a garanteed win, but whats the point in that? I can't give the british up because at the moment that's my garantee for money if all else fails, i've got 2 little mouths to feed don't forget!! (and 1 big one for the next 2 weeks!!!
)
I reckon fights with Alejandro Garcia and Jose A Rivera would be good - if you can get 'em. Both ex title holders with action styles. Both have power but big defensive issues.Mooresy wrote:I'd love the chance to fight any of those three mentioned, it's just making the fights. What's happening with that proposed Sechew Powell fight?

Seen that Piccirillo defends his Euro title against Hussein Bayram next month. Hope that Bayram causes an upset, then we may get a chance of Michael getting a shot at him. I can't see Piccirillo being tempted to defend against Moore as its to dangerous a fight for him.
Ratings i can find for Michael are. No12 with WBC, he's not rated in top 15 in the other 3 major bodies.
Its going to be hard for him to break in the world scene, hopefully his managment are trying to bring a rated boxer over here, or maybe even get Michael a fight in the US against someone of that calibre

I don't think it does sound like that, this is a boxing forum populated by boxing fans.DavidPayne wrote:Mooresy.
You're a class act.
If only we had one or two more like you.
Which sounds like arse licking but its undeniably true.
Jamie Moore is currently one of the best fighters we have and has taken time to see what we are saying about him and post on this thread, fair play to you for telling him he's doing things right in our book!
If Moore can't get a title shot, then want to see Moore v Bradley Pryce...
I would bet my life that Moore stops Pryce.
And what about a rematch with Ossie Duran, surely he wants to put the record straight there. (& then dig up Super Scott) Or a good profile raising fight would be K-9 Bundrage from the contender show, again made to measure for Moore, an easy fight.
If he takes fights like these and keeps knocking on the door, he will get a shot.

Yes Jamie, you're so right and obviously live in the real world.Mooresy wrote:I'd love the chance to fight any of those three mentioned, it's just making the fights. Hopefully get a shot at one of the genuine world titles. You're a smart fighter with a big heart and that's enough to take you a long way.
Reach for the stars mate!!
