Though RJJ is supposed to be promoting his own fight with Anthony Hanshaw, Jones called out Calzaghe at 168 in the UK. He was weight drained at 175 so will never make 168 and if anyone bought into Roy there would be some kind of farce or disaster.
Anyway, cutting a long story short Warren wants to match Jones v MACCARINELLI, not Calzaghe.
Obviously, Warren has not learned his lesson re celebrity fights.

Calzaghe versus Jones is a distinct possibility.Final Fight wrote:www.icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0700sports/ ... _page.html

Would still like to see Enzo and David Haye, but I doubt Haye will see cruiser again now he has feasted at the heavyweight table.

Who knows with Jones though. He was a once in a lifetime type fighter. Maybe he got careless in the second Tarver fight and didn't train properly for Johnson.
We don't write off Castillo/Corrales/Freitas/MAB/Wlad and they've had just as bad losses as RJJ. RJJ may still suprise a few people or maybe he is shot to pieces we don't know for sure. Many other fighters have been writter off completely and comeback too.
I think RJJ should try to make a Hopkins fight. Hopkins isn't sure RJJ is shot. Hopkins ducked RJJ in negotiations after RJJ said the winner should take 60%. If Hopkins was sure he'd win he'd have taken the offer of winner takes 60%. Hopkins throwing 1 shot at a time would still get outboxed by RJJ imo. this all happened after BHOPs-Tarver (btw please don't try claiming BHOPs is the draw)

yes it could be a gruesome spectacle, with Jones either steering clear for 12 rounds, or getting badly knocked out.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Not a chance mate. Jones wouldn't have a snowball's chance. Enzo would KO him when they touched gloves. The only way Jones lasts the distance would be by fighting like he did in the 3rd tarver fight, in other words, by not fighting at all.
Though if it was the Jones of 3 or 4 years ago, you'd bank on him flattening Enzo inside a round. How times change...

I don't think he would have flattened Enzo at any time to be honest. At light heavy, in general, Jones wasn't a massive puncher, and Enzo is, although upright, and a bit stiff, a pretty quick handed chap for a 200 lber.
We saw Jones beat big immobile Ruiz, but enzo is a lot quicker and more nimble.
I suspect that Jones would not have done at all well at cruiserweight, where the sub 200 men tend to be a lot fitter and faster than the big lumbering twats that pass for heavyweights these days.
Look at the kind of pace Mormeck and Bell have fought at in their past two fights and compare this to the average heavyweight hug-fest.

Yeah could be, Enzo is a pretty lethal fighter when he hits his stride, but with all his recent spectacular wins, it's easy to forget that Enzo is very vunerable himself when in with a decent hitter. Something SN have avoided at ALL costs, so far.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I don't think he would have flattened Enzo at any time to be honest. Macarinelli vs Jones is just plain ridiculous. Roy's probably forgotten more than Enzo will ever know.
Jones is nowhere near the great fighter he once was. Bearing this in mind, & with the power Enzo has, I'd fear for Jones. Hope it does not happen.
If it does, then it just goes to show what type of opponents allegedly allegedly really wants for Enzo.
I would much rather see Haye-Macarinelli, but David stated last week that the fight will not happen, unless he signs the rest of his carer over, which he'll not do!

Big difference between Jones and those fighters... in his recent fights Jones has been in trouble everytime he gets caught with any type of punch... add this to bad reflexes, stiff legs, declined speed = absolutely shot...Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Who knows with Jones though. Glen Johnson knocked Jones absolutely spark out, are you seriously telling me that Glen hits harder than Enzo?
Jones cannot even face a puncher at 175, let alone a big bastard like Enzo who is over 200 on fight night.
It is all a moot point though, Jones is no way going to come over and fight enzo.
If Enzo landed one on Jones he'd feel like King Kong landed on him.
Above 175 Jones was vulnerable to anyone with a punch and the speed to land it. He looked great against Ruiz, but Ruiz is pretty slow even by modern heavyweight standards. I think Jones avoided Cruiserweight with good reason.
I cannot imagine Jones being able to handle Jirov like he did Ruiz.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing I know, at the time Jones beat ruiz, I thought he was superman, but I think Ruiz was the perfect opponent, a big slow lug who wasn't good at fighting on the outside. It was a good performance from Jones alright, but he dropped back down immediately, knowing I think there were others out there who may well clean his clock.
That Jones was able to do so well whilst having such a fragile chin is a remarkable testament to how good his reflexes were.

I like enzo, i think he's a good fighter but lets not act as if RJJ cant hurt this man who was stopped by Swaby and hurt by bruce scott. Remember RJJ has fought at heavy and rocked ruiz in the 4th. RJJ would be a better stronger fighter at cruiser though nobody really knows what he has left at the higher weights. Just because he was k'd at light heavy, he clearly looked like a drained fighter. If the Rjj that showed up for any of the fights post ruiz comes to the ring he would undoubtably be k'd. if 40% of the RJJ prior to the ruiz fight shows up it would be an easy nights work for RJ and i don't care how hard enzo bangs. sort of like Jones-woods.
