Briefly, Fogarty turned pro at 18 and finished boxing at 22. He was big and impressive looking (6'4 and 230lbs as a youngster) and beat everyone he faced (1 defeat - subsequently avenged - in 19 fights). I remember an 18 year-old Fogarty beating Gypsy John Fury (father of the current amateur prospect Tyson Fury) on Fight Night and thinking 'this lad could go far'. However, Fogarty quit boxing to take up Rugby League and had a good career in that sport before going on to do TV and film work.
But, what could Fogarty have done had he stuck to boxing? British Title? Better? Or just a journeyman?

I watched his fight with Tim Morrison in 1989 at the Elephant and it was sleep-inducing stuff. Rode the tube back with Morrison and his manager and they were enquiring about good nightclubs near their hotel.

I honestly can't remember seeing him fight on TV, I watched Fight Night all the time so I may have seen him in action at some point, just lost in the mists of time I guess.
Welch was in it further on. Gorgeous george (Foggerty) gets his jaw broken right at the start doesnt he, the catalyst for the whole plot really. Proper dumb fu**** in the film, great film too.
