Bob Foster vs. Mac Foster

Post by Trajan »

This is another in the series I like to do about fighters who were around about the same time, with similar names, who could've (and maybe should've) faced each other...but never did.

Who wins in a battle of the Fosters? Bob Foster was, of course, one of the great lightheavyweight champs but he was also known to have problems when facing heavyweights: Ali, Frazier, Terrell etc. And he lost in a points decision to Zora Folley, whom Mac Foster was able to KO in one. Mac didn't really have too much trouble winning most of his fights till late in his career, so I have to give the nod to him. Bob was a good enough boxer to maybe make it interesting for a few rounds but Mac winds up winning in six or seven.

Depends when they fought........Mac Foster did fade after losing to Quarry.

Bob Foster may have been too small though.......would have held his own and then been stopped.

Bob Foster did not fare to well against even mid level Heavyweights, if memory serves me correct.

Although I never saw a tape of the fight, I remember reading that
the Foster vs Frazier first round was a classic.
