No problem! Several points:
1. Sanders won JUNIOR NCAA Championships in 1949 and 1950.
2. Sanders LOST to Scheberies in the semis. Ed was down from a left to the jaw in 1:05 of the third. Bob Ranck won a UD over Jack Scheberies in the finals. I have the 1951 reports but you can also take a look here:
http://www.ncaa.org/library/records/win ... inued2.pdf
You also mistyped Ranck’s last name (18 junio 1952).
3. Just a minor point – both semifinals and finals of the Olympic Trials took place on June 18th.
A couple of points on terminology (this obviously applies to all other records as well). The Tournament of Champions in Chicago should really be called “Western Golden Gloves Championships,” or “Western Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions,” and not “Mid-Western.”
“Torneo Guantes Dorados Nacional” back then was “Guantes Dorados Inter-ciudades,” just like you named it on some other pages. This was basically a dual meet between Eastern and Western champions and alternates.

I think you misunderstood me, Sanders participated in a "real" NCAA tourney in 1951. Just the 1949 and 1950 tournaments were Junior NCAA Championships.Venceremos wrote:Page updated... I'm correcting mistakes as you point me them, thanks

Strangely, you have the right names and dates for 1934 but they were not KO-1s. Also just a minor point -- Earl Conway was an American from Niagara Falls, NY; Elm Grove A.C. somehow did not have a light-heavy to fight Louis. The bouts took place on October 30th.

Floyd's fight with Jimmy Glenn had to take place in New York and it was at middleweight, W-3:
All bouts below were at 72,6 kg (160 pounds) except where noted. Please note that Floyd fought Stig Sjölin at the Olympics!!Boxing as an amateur, Glenn compiled a 14-2 record with two knockouts. "I was a fair fighter, not a good one," he admits. "I started at welterweight and ended up at middleweight. I could box but I wasn't much of a puncher." In his most memorable amateur match, he fought a middleweight named Floyd Patterson. "He beat me," Glenn acknowledges. "Knocked me down a few times, broke my tooth. But I went the distance."

Thanks! Several points:
1. I am not sure about how many fights Floyd had in total, but he obviously did not have 37 KOs in 40 wins. Please remove the KO number.
2. It should say "Palmarés Amateur de Floyd Patterson," not Joe Louis. :)
3. On March 28th he won over Ralph Franz, not Lanz.
4. On March 24th he won the Intercity Tournament (you are missing the tourney name).
5. Please remove the second Blair bout on May 26th.
6. It was the XV Olympiad.
7. The Jimmy Glenn fight had to be in NY; do you have a confirmation that it was in Detroit?

Additions to Floyd Patterson's Amateur Record
In his early autobiography, "Victory Over Myself," Floyd Patterson adds nine bouts to his amateur career (pages 42-47) which are not included in El Intocable's excellent update: six wins (five by ko/tko) and three losses. And it makes no mention of a match with Jimmy Glenn. Most of what Floyd has claimed in this book can be verified in the New York Daily News newspaper accounts of the 1950 and 1951 New York City Golden Gloves tournaments.
Briefly, Floyd says (page 42): "My debut in the ring was made in the sub-novice division of the 147-pound class of the New York Daily News' annual Golden Gloves tournament. My first opponent didn't show up at the Ridgewood Grove and I was the winner by default" (January 1950).
"My first official opponent was a sailor (pages 42-43) [whom he knocked out in 34 seconds of the second round]." (January 1950).
"... My second [official] amateur fight (page 44) [was against Joseph Baglio. He lost the decison] (January 1950).
His next opponent (page 45) was Ray Drake, to whom he lost a points decision. It was held held at Jamaica Arena in Brooklyn. (Undated).
Next, a rematch with Ray Drake at Dexter Park (page 45) and another points defeat. (Undated)
Next, four matches in the 1951 New York City Golden Gloves turnament followed (pages 45-47): two second-round tko victories, a one-round knockout of Harvey Lammers, and a two-round tko over Eddie Henderson.
Floyd then picks up the record El Intocable has researched.

Further re: Floyd Patterson's Amateur Record
Back again. I have checked my notes from Floyd's "Victory Over Myself" autobiography (published in 1962) and found five more of his amateur bouts:
Feb. 1951 - Charley Williams W tko 1. First round, Eastern Golden Gloves 160-pound championship (from page 47).
Jan. 1952 - Unnamed opponent W ko 1
Feb. 1952 - Unnamed opponent W ko 1. Quarterfinals and semifinals of New York City Golden Gloves 175-pound championship (I forgot to mark the page number on this one)
Mch. 1952 - Unnamed opponent W ko 1
Mch. 1952 - Unnamed opponent W pts. First round and quarterfinals of Eastern Golden Gloves 175-pound championships (from pages 63-64).
If you include the Jimmy Glenn bout, this suggests that Floyd Patterson's amateur record was 38-5, with 25 KO's, and not 40-4, with 37 KO's, as is usually quoted.
