If you intend to spar i would go with 14oz, if you are just hitting the bag and you are ten stone maybe 10oz/12oz...

8oz are pretty small for regular training, could hurt your hands

Do you intend to fight or just train? If the latter than I would use both 12/14 oz for sparring and also the 8/10 oz ones... as there is a massive difference and you've got to get used to it before re-stepping through the ropes.

I use 14oz for sparring and 12oz for bag work. I know its only a 2 ox difference but Its force of habit.

If you're looking for decent gloves a t a good price have a gander at jamie moore and steve woods stuff over at VIP. Good quality and the transaction was really smooth

Sparring I use 16oz gloves and Bag/Pad work it's 6/7oz bag gloves (including for heavy bag).. That said, I walk around at 15st...

Thing is though, I would always suggest using a heavier glove for sparring and have a lightter glove for the pads and bags...

I always feel that if you wear heavier gloves for everything, hands will become to 'soft' and break easier when wearing a contest glove...

Though at 10st, you may well wish to use 14oz's for sparring and 8/10oz's for the pads, something like that maybe.

Good luck, depth of talent doesn't seem to be too great.

Good advice on this thread. I would add one thing - get your hands properly taped.

I do a couple of white collar boxing sessions a week, I don't think I am RJJ in his prime, but by God it makes my job easier to get through. The first guy I had couldn't tape for toffee and I had knuckle and wrist problems even with 16s on. When properly taped, you have a bit more leeway if your punches aren't thrown with correct wrist straightness etc.
