Haye vs Bonin Weigh-in Drama!!!
I know it's quite shocking. Never in the history of professional sport has there been such drama.Kevo wrote:Oh my god! 'Confident scowls'!? Next thing you know, they'll be 'angry gestures', and 'abusive verbal exchanges'.
Maybe we should call the Police? The Army?

After seeing pics of Haye at the weigh-in, I think it's highly unlikely he'll be able to make 14st 4lbs again. Haye looks trim & lean. There's no excess fat on him at all. He'll struggle even more than he has in the past if he attempts to boild down to 200lbs.
Bonin is trying intimidation tactics. Can't blame him really, although it's not necessary. Don't think David will be fazed by it one bit. I hope Haye performs well and ultimately, gets the win.

Flip Tomasz Bonin is hairier than me!
Just what exactly is Haye's weight situation? Haye and Adam Booth insist Haye is so tight at Cruiser he has to drop 2 stone to make weight. Frank Maloney being interviewed for SKY in a preview on the Froch-Tatevosyan bill said Haye had no weight struggles and wanted to be a Cruiserweight champion before moving to Heavyweight. What is the truth here?

Just look at Haye is pics of weigh in, mate. He must surely struggle to make 200lbs, and as I've said previously, I have reservations about him making 14st 4lbs in the future.
Maybe Maloney is just trying to stay positive, I don't know? Only time will tell, I guess!

Muscle weighs and Haye has plenty of it and making CW is impractical/ near impossible for him as time goes on - I think we may have seen his last CW fight but I hope not because he says he wants to clean up in the division which has to mean taking on Macca - Fat you can get off with the right diet and training but the mans virtually all muscle so how does he lose enough to get back down to CW - I think the only sensible way forward is at HW using his speed to beat the heavier men - Stamina issues are a bit of a problem at CW having to struggle to make the weight whereas at HW he is fitter and more comfortable with the extra pounds - I would back Enzo to beat him at CW but if they both fought at heavy my money would be on a Haye win.steve689 wrote:Flip Tomasz Bonin is hairier than me!

Haye is 217 for this fight and fights at cruiser at 200lbs, as a percentage of body weight lighter weight fighters probably dehydrate to lose more weight than that the day before the weigh-in. Haye probably weighs now what he normally weighs coming in to the ring fot his cruiserweight fights the difference is he hasn't dehydrated down to 200lbs for the weigh in.
What I don't understand is how Team Haye claim he boils down 2 stone (so from 228) yet he is 217 here. Does he let his weight get back up between fights? In which case he needs to be more disciplined between fights to make 200 easier if he wants to remain at Cruiser.
Less time in the weight room wouldn't hurt either.

Come on overhand, old Howard Eastman was hardly fighting the best of opposition whilst waiting for his title shot, who do you expect Haye to do any different? Plus this will get him a ranking with the WBC at heavy.
Going by the ambition Haye has already shown in his career (Arthur Williams 10th fight, Carl Thompson 11th fight, Alexander Gurov 16th fight) I can't see him moving to heavyweight and fighting the likes of Krence although i'm sure he'd jump at the chance of being the one who bursts Greenberg's bubble

Haye is muscular, but you don't get big muscles like that 'naturally' you get them from lifting weights. Compare his build to the natural heavyweight Bonin, there's no huge bulging biceps or pectorals on Bonin, because the underlying frame itself is what makes him a heavyweight.wildwaylon wrote:Muscle weighs and Haye has plenty of it and making CW is impractical/ near impossible for him as time goes on - I think we may have seen his last CW fight but I hope not because he says he wants to clean up in the division which has to mean taking on Macca - Fat you can get off with the right diet and training but the mans virtually all muscle so how does he lose enough to get back down to CW - I think the only sensible way forward is at HW using his speed to beat the heavier men - Stamina issues are a bit of a problem at CW having to struggle to make the weight whereas at HW he is fitter and more comfortable with the extra pounds - I would back Enzo to beat him at CW but if they both fought at heavy my money would be on a Haye win.steve689 wrote:Flip Tomasz Bonin is hairier than me!

Bonin

Look how thick Bonin's back is and look at how thick his legs are. There are no rippling well defined muscles there, he is just naturally big.
Of course, none of this means neccessarily that Haye can make cruiserweight easily, but the likes of Johnny Nelson must walk around way over 200 lbs, the guy is absolutely huge, maybe a bit spindly in the leg, but his frame is absolutely massive, note again than Nelson doesn't have huge pecs or biceps, just a big frame with a taut layer of muscle over the top.

A young Mike Tyson was like this also, he used to be quite slight looking, compared with the pumped up monster who jacked loads of weights around to pump up his physique and look fit, rather than actually train properly.

Overhand i feel you may be being a little cynical on Haye there, after all he hasn't really ducked a challenge so far at Cruiserweight. I think Bonin is a good opponent to feel his way into the Heavyweight waters adn he has a flattering record too.overhand_right wrote:Hayes seen Mormeck/Bell II and is looking for an out.
Extend his winning run by hand picking heavies like Bonin, and cash out in a world heavyweight title fight.
Can Greenberg and Krence be far behind?
Is Julius Francis available for the trusty points loss?
I think whoever mentioned the "weight excuse" was spot on too, Haye has little to lose by getting in with a Bell or a Mormeck because if he were to lose the old "i was drained from making weight" "i felt weak as a kitten from round 3" stuff will come forth.

Haye is the real deal.
He would spark Enzo within 3 rounds,no doubt IMO.
He looks far more comfortable at heavyweight too.
You could see that from the first jab he landed, which shook Bonin right up.
Can't wait to see what Fwank Warren has to say about this.
No doubt he will suggest Bonin was'nt credible, and he should have been looking to fight someone of Bobby Gunn's class!
Love the way this has panned out.
Haye now gets a shot at the undisputed number 1 cruiserweight.
Enzo should have took the opportunity to fight Haye when it arose...Haye,as I knew he would,is now moving onto much bigger and better things than Enzo Maccarenelli.
