Noel Quarless .Would literaly go over from the first clean shot some fights ,others lhe looked a dangerous fast puncher. Seeing talk of Jeff Merritt on a other thread ,got me to thinking of Quarless.I remember the first time I see him on tv against Anders Ecklund ,Quarless came out very fast and started teeing off ,dropping Ecklund and stopping him in a round .Second fight I saw was against John L. Gardner former Europeon champ and world rated,Quarless hit him with one of the fastest power shots I have ever seen ,I still remember the sound as it connected "TWAAACK!!!!!" ,THE SPEED was awesome ,he stopped Gardner in two.American decent journeyman Mark Lee done him twice after that and the last big win for Quarless was over Big John Tate in Tates last fight. John Gardner said after the fight ," I know this sounds odd but his speed and power reminds me of Mike Dokes" who at that time was highly rated. He was a really colourful fighter who tried to call Bruno out ,often wonder what would have happened if he got that fight,Quarless had great speed and power but not a lot else! perhaps a case of who got in first!

YEP! HIS CHIN WAS CHINA ,his last fight was against Lennox Lewis . Remember that "Barking noise " it was as if every punch had everything behind it, but as I said the speed of that punch and the power stays in the memory even after 24 or so years.

Bruno would absolutely massacre Quarless, assuming Quarless didnt get knocked out by Brunos first jab.

Icing a shot Gardner and Eklund does not make you Tyson or Bonecrusher in the power stakes.

The guy couldnt even budge John Tate, who was completely shot & morbidly obese and waddled after him for 10 rds. Bruno would of rolled over that Tate in 1 very painful rd.

Yeah, your right Quarless was not in Brunos class ,you only have to see the loss's on his record but maybe for 1 round it might have been interesting if Quarless managed to land his heavy fast right hook,but as you say ,you get the feeling if he felt the power of Bruno he would have probally folded . Just remembered another of his fights ,where he hadnt trained (he claimed he was suffering from tonsilititis) after trying to take out a canadian black fighter called Conroy Nelson in the first round he proceeded to use every dirty trick in the book ,getting disqualified around the 7 th.

Lost one over 10 rounds the other he was ko'd in the 1st.
