RESULTS FROM 4 MARCH 2008:
Schmeling TKO6 Miske
In a relatively one-sided affair, Schmeling outboxed Miske for the first five rounds before the referee stepped in to stop the fight in round 6. Schmeling was consistently landing counter right hands to the face of Miske, and taking little serious himself.
Lewis TKO6 Quarry
In a highly entertaining fight, Quarry stunned Lewis with a left hook in the first round. Lewis probably would have been knocked down, only for the ropes to keep him on his feet. Lewis recovered and boxed cautiously, winning the next few rounds with his jab. By the sixth, Lewis was clearly on top and Quarry was swollen around both eyes. Lewis landed two huge uppercuts sending Quarrey staggering into the ropes as the referee stopped the fight.
Charles UD12 Sharkey
In a highly competitive fight, Charles took a close but unanimous decision over Sharkey. The fight swung back and forth and by the final bell both men were battered and exhausted. In the end Charles was a bit too clever, winning most of the pivotal rounds. Scorecards read 115:114, 115:113 and 116:113, all to Charles.
Tyson TKO2 Norton
Considering Norton's record against power-punchers, most experts thought they knew the result of the fight before it started, and the look on Norton's face as he entered the ring only confirmed that. Norton was knocked down once in the first round by a left hook, and twice in the second round by another left hook and a massive straight right that connected with Norton's head so hard that the referee waved off the contest before Norton hit the canvas.
Wills UD12 Machen
In relatively easy style, Wills boxed his was to a unanimous decision victory. Wills hurt Machen throughout the fight, but was unable to knock him down. Towards the end of the fight it seemed that Machen was simply happy to go the distance.
Carnera SD12 Stribling
This highly interesting matchup ended in a split decision victory to the bigger man. Stribling started stronger, using his big advantages in speed and boxing skill to take an early lead. Carnera began to physically impose himself on Stribling, and took the bulk of the middle rounds, knocking Stribling down in the process. By the final round it seemed that Carnera had a clear lead, but Stribling finished strongly, outlanding and hurting Carnera down the stretch. Scorecards read 114:113 Stribling, 114:113 Carnera and 115:112 Carnera.
Holyfield TKO8 Bivins
In an impressive performance, Holyfield stopped Bivins in the 8th round. Outboxing Bivins in most rounds and dictating the pace of the fight, Holyfield knocked Bivins down early in the 8th with a flurry of punches
Liston TKO10 Langford
Lanford put up a hell of a fight but was ultimately outgunned by an impressive Liston. Langford won some rounds with his high workrate and flurries of body-punches, but Liston was winning more with his thumping jab and making effective use of his size and reach advantage. By the tenth, Langfords face was terribly swollen and he had cuts on both eyes. Liston landed three hard, unanswered punches, Langford wobbled, and the referee had seen enough.

Ali W 12 Schmeling
The fight of the tournament so far! Rounds 1-4 to Ali, but Schmeling with a good defence does not take too much punishment. In round 5 Ali is too confident and Schmeling put him down with a counter right. Ali is up at "8", survives the round barely with luck and his fast feet. Max wins round 6 going for the Knockout but Ali is too clever and keeps respectfully the distance. Max gets a bit tired and Ali takes Rounds 7-10 but he has still respect for Schmelings right hand. In round 11 Schmeling awakes and lands some bombs but Ali can take it. The last (even) round both fighters exchange hard punches under the standing ovations of the crowd (final score: 116:112). Both agree to a rematch to take place in Berlin ;)

Holmes D12 Wills - a battle of tactics, wich deserves no winner

Foreman LUD12 Charles - I pick the upset. Charles too slick, too fast for Foreman.
charles had a bad habit of trying to brawl on the inside rather than dancing away, foreman would put him out in 2. charles couldnt pull the upset cause he didnt have the footwork mobility and tricky moves of walcott to stay away from foreman
i think of all the boxers charles, patterson, shcmeling, sharkey that walcott has the best chance to pull the upset off

Come on Brocky, he might not have been quite as cute as Walcott but how slick do really you have to be the beat The Mummy?

RESULTS FROM 5 MAY 2008:
Ali UD12 Schmeling
Ali dominates the early and middle rounds. Schmeling knocks Ali down in the 11th but it is too little, too late. Scorecards 116:111 and 115:112 twice, all to Ali.
Lewis TKO8 Frazier
A highly competitive fight, with both men hurt through various stages. Lewis ahead on points, knocks Frazier down twice with uppercuts in the 8th and the ref stops the fight.
Foreman KO4 Charles
Charles wins the first two rounds, hurts Foreman in the 4th then makes the mistake of trading with possibly the biggest puncher in the competition.
Johnson UD12 Tyson
Johnson had to win this fight to remain in the competition. He boxes smart, blocking, slippping and countering his way to a clear decision victory. Tyson knocks Johnson down in the 9th. Scorecards 116:111, and 115:112 and 115:113, all to Johnson
Holmes UD12 Wills
The Holmes jab is the deciding factor in this competitive fight. Holmes is wobbled in the 5th and 7th rounds, but fights back to have Wills all-but out on his feet by the final bell. Scorecards 117:111, 116:112 and 115:113 all to Holmes.
Marciano TKO10 Stribling
Stribling proves hard to hit and has Marciano frustrated in the early rounds. In the end, Marciano is too strong, too fit and hits too hard, as he knocks Stribling down in the 9th, and twice again in the 10th before the ref stopped the fight.
Dempsey KO7 Holyfield
Dempsey wins the first three rounds, Holyfield the next three, and both men are clearly hurt at various stages. A Holyfield combination has Dempsey on the back-foot in the 7th, before Holyfield walks straight into a Dempsey straight right that put him on the canvas. Dempsey finishes his man off impressively, Holyfield unable to beat the count.
Louis KO7 Langford
Louis was knocked down by a straight right in the 3rd, but recovers to knock Langford down in the 5th and 6th rounds, and finally out in the 7th.

Baer LUD12 Miske - well, this fight is about nothing, as both guys are already out. Hence Baer doens't take the fight seriously, clowns around, tries halfheartedly a late knockout, and when this does not work resigns to his fate agasint a concentratred, sharp Miske.
Walcott UD12 Quarry - a fine counterpunching display by cutie Walcott.
Johansson LUD12 Sharkey - Johannson is no match for an in-form Jack Sharkey who is all over the Swede from the word go, before taking it somewaht easier in the fight's secodn half
Tunney UD12 Norton - Tunney secures entry into the next round with a counterpunching clinic.
Bowe TKO3 Machen - Machen quits on his chair.
Patterson UD12 Carnera - entertaining fight with several knockdowns, but Patterson is too fast for Carnera
Bugner LSD12 Bivins - Lacklustre fight as both are already out, Bivins somewhat more discipkined.
Liston vs Burns TKO0- Burns is too smart to be beaten up for nothing, is home with his wife and kids.

Baer Miske- KO 8th Max Baer
Walcott Quarry- Technical KO in 9th Walcott victory
Sharkey Johansson- Sharkey wins Majority Decision
Tunney Norton- Tunney wins UD decision
Bowe Machen- Eddie Machen wins via 12 round decision
Patterson Carnera- Patterson wins via 12 round UD decision
Bugner Bivins- Bugner wins via 12 round decision
Liston Burns- Liston wins via TKO in 8 rounds
[most say Burns would be blasted out easily, but if Burns could take the most hellacious shots from Jack Johnson for 14 rounds, then Burns certainly could have taken Liston's shots for at least 6]
