calzaghe. The # Scaphoid get out clause
calzaghe. The # Scaphoid get out clause
The Joe calzaghe situation continues to evolve, joe has had 2 medical opinions now with reference to his broken base of thumb. one doc said his career was finished, the other said he should be clear to fight by sept.
so....which is it to be joe? in my opinion calzaghe has about 3 fights left in him maximum. that will take him till the end of 2008 at the earliest.
joe has hand problems, so what should he do? should he follow the first doctors advice and retire as a reigning unbeaten champion?
or should he fight on and risk breaking his hand again against someone like froch (who will not lie down and will in no way let calzaghe beat him one handed) who joe would have beaten on points with comparative ease whilst in his prime.
tough decisions for team calzaghe, has joe done enough to cement his own welsh legacy, or will the public be left with that 'what could have been feeling'.
are we content with joes achievments?
and what should his final 3 fights be?
personally i think he should try and dispatch froch or kessler, then jermaine taylor and clinton woods.

Hopkins is the best fight for him.
A middleweight fighting out of his division. 42 years old by the JC got to him and without a KO punch and with a lazy punch output.
He's also revered as THE man at 175.
He brings some dollars to the table to.
I'd be doing EVERYTHING to have that fight bagged if he gets past Wright.
Kessler is a fight Calzaghe should make.
But I'd be looking for Taylor and Hopkins ahead of them because they mean more and JC could become a one handed fighter at any point.
If he beats Kessler he'll be denigrated just like Lacy was.
He needs American names. And fast.
Please respnd to PM BTW.

Kessler, Taylor and if all is still well shut Froch up or perhaps take on Clinton Woods for his final bout - Dont think it will work out that way, I am beginning to think his next fight may be his last - He isnt even using his full power because of risking hand injuries yet it still happens - The dilemma is huge - If he fights Kessler he will need two good hands to win and if he gets an injury he will either lose on points or retire on his stool, pretty sad scenario that is for a champion like Joe - I think Joe is more concerned about the situation than he lets on - A broken hand hurts so bad, I dont know how anyone can box on and still concentrate - I broke mine once twatting a bloke (barefist), thank God he didnt want to continue - It even hurt to write months later.
