First time I saw Barnes was in the Vincent fight, although he shouldn't have got the decision I thought he showed a lot of potential. Shame he's dropped off the radar a bit.

I think James Hare's demise has affected Barnes alot. For me, that was his only decent performance at championship level... and Hare's results since have shown he was nowhere near championship level when he fought Barnes.

Funny how when Ali Nuumbembe got a draw against Barnes it was seen as a good result for Ali, now many would argue it was a good result for Barnes!

It was a lucky result for Barnes.... Not Vincent esque lucky, but I don't think I have read anybody view who scored it for Barnes.

Plus, Nuumbembe was a last minute replacement there... don't want to do Ali a disserve who is a championship level fighter, but the last time Ali was a last minute replacement he was on the recieving end of a kicking.

Which again might be an indicate of Barnes' talent.

Everytime I think of Barnes I think that he is British Boxing equivalent of Gavin Henson - looks to have something, but is sadly so lacking mentally that critics start to wonder if the talent was there in the first place.

I liked James Hare a lot but his opponents were shocking so he usually looked better than he was - Twice he stepped up in class and lost both times (Rivera and Barnes) - Since his title shot with Barnes he has done nothing - A very padded record that looked good until you studied the details - However I really did hope he might be good enough for the British belt but sadly he wasnt - He lost his last fight which he shouldnt have so that could be his last fight now.
