I'm on about Calzaghe's opponent for December.
I hear the names that are mainly being touted are Antuwn Echols and Syd Vanderpool.
I don't particularly want it to be one of the, cause they have been exposed before.
If FW wants to use a fighter who has been exposed in the recent past, then I urge him to look at Mad Larsen, who has at least redeamed himself in his last fight and captured the European belt.
Out of all the available names I would like to see Calzaghe vs Larsen, whats the chances of it happening in December?
Is there any hope?
Vanderpool is a dire match-up because he is a fellow southpaw and a spoiler, but Echols is a bit more interesting in my opinion, even though he lost to the fragile Bumdine. You know, it always makes me laugh to hear Warren talking about Kostya Tszyu and Bernard Hopkins for his fighters in the immediate aftermath of their wins. Then, when the dust settles, the names banded about become far more unambitious. Can you remember how close Calzaghe was to facing Roy Jones Junior in the past? Very close according to Warren, but in reality it was about as close as the promoter is to Terry Marsh.steve689 wrote:Calzaghe is taking steps back when he looks to fight someone like Echols who was schooled by old glass jaw Mundine last time out. It's a dire matchup as is Vanderpool, when is he going to be tested? Move to USA Joe and sign with Don King at least you will get the fights.
