Sky wont be showing them because HBO didnt record them - well thats what I remember them saying last night - but i was tiredG0mez wrote:No dude -perhaps Sky Sports has them archived for a showing sometime next week and if so i will tube them.
I will find out exactly later through my source at Hennessy.

As a former light middle who barely boiled down to welter on the day of the fight, I dont think Solano would be an appropriate fight for Khan, who can still make 9st 9 from the looks of things.rhino222 wrote:khan should now fight solano..but i bet warren will have nothing of it.
Going from fighting super featherweights to light middle weights would be a jump too far!!
surely they're all filmed?TerribleTerry wrote:Sky just bought the international feed from HBO. They didnt have their own cameras there and I doubt very much whether HBO will have filmed all the prelims from the first bell.Final Fight wrote:if sky are showing i'm definitely recording them on DVD. if murray's going off to america for learning fights, then sky definitely should get behind him.
UFC film all their 'dark matches', as the non-televised fights are known, and offer them to fans as part of both the event DVD that goes on sale and via their 'UFC On Demand' internet subscription service - that way you dont miss a thing.
Would be nice to see either HBO or the individual promoters do similar for boxing.

I have been to many big shows where the camera crews are packing away after the main event whilst prelim matches are going on in the ring.
On a long day/big show like Saturday nights, I doubt that HBO would pay thier vast camera crew and have them in place for an extra 2 or 3 hours just to catch unknown prelim fighters, at either end of the card..

True but the hype Hennessey Is giving guys like Murray and O'Donnell Is premature.Old bones Ian wrote:Maybe O'Donnell started listening to all the hype, and thought he can blow people away, I'm not going to write him off yet though. One loss doesn't mean thew end of a career.Tsukiyomi wrote:Well Hennessey sure has egg on his face hyping up McDonnell as the best since McGuigan anyway.
Even Froch has yet to face a world class fighter.
Hyped Daws as the next Hatton or Witter too I think until Morrison beat him.

Yes true Hennessey does need to cool down on the hype sometimes, guess he's trying to get his boxers in the headlines, but when they lose it looks bad for them.
I guess if your in charge of boxers , you can either take the Micky Duff route of matching your fighters very carefully, then getting the big payday in a big fight, probably knowing your boxer has little chance.
Or like Hennessey match your boxers in harder matches on the way up , hopeing that they improve with each one, therefore having a better chance of winning the bigger titles. Of course this can also lead to your boxers falling at the wayside when matched to tough on the way up.
If you see what i mean

Other than Mandatories I think Hennessy has carefully matched Froch too.
Tatevosyan was hyped as Froch's world class opponent while he's only decent Euro Level.
He's only made harder matchups domestically and odd Euro as other than Witter and the odd world title challenger, he's barely had any talent to make and prove he will make harder world class matchups. So will he make good matchups on the world scene If he gets any?

I don't think these fights were filmed as nobody was stood behind the cameras.
When they came to the ring, I was suprised when the record was read out - 20 wins with 15 ko's.
Not slagging John off as it takes great balls to get into the ring but he came across as a poor mans Carl Frotch. He left hand was low, and he seemed to paw with is jab, paw with the jab whilst getting caught, end of the 1st the guy ducked under the jab hit him on the chin and he went down.
2nd Round we thought he would learn from it, but paw paw with the jab then the Mexican ducks and cracks him a beauty on the chin, John went down face first but fair play to him got up but was out on his feet and the ref called it off.

It's good to see some of the regulars not getting too hysterical about O'Donnell's loss. It's a suprise to some of us in the UK, considering how highly rated O'Donnell is, but i dare say this Solano guy has the beating of a number of our Welterweights. The gamble failed, probably not too much harm done though. I'm sure O'Donnell will be back.
On a brighter note, congrats to Murray on another overseas win.

Thanks for the report, its always a risky when fighting hands down, only a split second away from disaster.dopey wrote:I don't think these fights were filmed as nobody was stood behind the cameras.

How did Murray look?
Hopefully he will learn from this defeat, very few fighters can carry off the hands down style, it takes great reflexes and a great chin... perhaps O'Donnell needs to go back to basics and rebuild his style, maybe the occasion got to him a bit.... but he's certainly too young to write off after just one defeat...

[quote="How did Murray look?[/quote]
This was the first time I'd seen Murray fight and I was so impressed. Some reports stated that he took a couple of rounds to get going, I disagree I thought he took a nice cautious approach in the first 2 rounds, getting the feel of the ring and working his opponent out, once he'd done that he stepped up the gears and his opponent didn't want to know, his defence was superb, his footwork excellent and his punches in bunches was excellent. His opponent tried to pull himself out at the end of the 5th but his corner encourgaed him to go back out for more.
It was quite funny, on the plane to Vegas opinion was divided over Oscar and Floyd which made for some interesting debates. On the way back it was Murray vs. Khan - who was better. I was definately in the Murray camp, I honestly believe at this moment in time Murray would dominate Khan.
Very impressed by the slickness of the boxing card, only 2 dull fights but no messing around (British promoters should take note) as soon as one fight finished the next began, there was almost cross overs of fighters leaving the ring and fighters coming in!! We went to the bar after fight one, happened to look up and see O'Donnell in the ring and had to rush back in. Quality sitting watching boxing munching on burgers and nachos whilst consuming alchol, so laid back.

I saw it on the BBC website. To be honest I haven't seen him for months, if he comes in focused and shape like he did against Llewlyn I can see him giving Gammer problems with his movement and hand speed, if he comes in over weight and out of shape I think Gammer will KO him. After I saw Gammer on the undercard of the first Willaims vs. Harrison fight I was pleading with him to fight him as it was so winnable. Think it may be too late now.
seems like murray fights best when he's in america. he's been looking a bit bored in the last couple of UK fights. he was impressive on the lacy-reid undercard and got a good reception there i remember.
good to see him getting out there and doing things to gain experience. also very good that hennessey does have some kind of connection to GBP who have already branched out into filipino markets - who knows maybe they'll have a briitsh angle one day which would benefit a fighter like murray.

its funny how noone was saying it was an ambitious match beforehand.the guy had lost his last three, and everyone was expecting a fairly straight forward nights work.being honest o'donnell did not look anything special against elwell and before that had a string of victories against guys with records like 2-50.its funny how khan gets slagged off for his competition and yet o'donnell has met a lot worse before this step up.
