Anyone convinced by Alex Arthur?

Sounds like he has a world title fight coming up. Vs a guy who beat Johanesson. Fair enough. Arthur has beaten some very good UK/Euro opposition recently but I've not been convinced by his style until the last fight (Palomo).

I think his balance and lateral movement could be better and he still telegraphs his punches - especially the straight right (not so straight in his case). But I did like the look of him in the last fight and his size is pretty formidable.

Anyway, I can't find myself being fully convinced by him. Now he's going for the WBO title, the title VACATED by Guzman. Shit, why couldn't they have challenged a weight drained Guzman?

I know the 1st goal is to GET the title. And #2 is to cement himself as world class. And #3, try to convince ppl that he's the best of the title holders in perhaps 5-6 years...But shit, he could have accomplished 1 and 2 if he'd gone for Guzman.

To make a fight with Guzman is easier said than done - and I heavily favour Guzman - Arthur has yet to face a genuine puncher since the gomez fight. Having said that, I like Arthur - he's good to watch and wish him all the best. Koba Gogaladze is nothing special but is very awkward and so could make it a difficult fight for arthur with his hit and move southpaw style. I still reckon Arthur should beat him, most likely on points. I'd also pick Arthur to destroy new IBF champ Monzke Fana who has a v.dodgy chin but decent boxing skills. It was mentioned a while ago that Arthur was dropped from the IBF ratings after being as high as #3 but I'm sure I read somewhere that he turned down an eliminator with Robbie Peden - this would explain why he was dropped from the rankings.

I'm still not sure if Arthur has fixed that problem that led to his downfall in the Gomez fight, the inability to defend against a left hook.

It wasn't Gomez's power that won the fight (Arthur can take a shot) It was the fact that he landed the left hook over and over and over and over and over and over again. Arthur just couldn't block it. I think there ws even one round where Gomez landed like 5 left hooks, thrown identically in succession.

I think he's one of our most improved boxers, after the Gomez defeat he took stock and came back boxing better , not just trying to rely on power.
I'd give him an good chance against Fana any day.

Not really, you argue that hes improved since he faced Gomez? The likes of Burns and Sinitsin are goo but when was the last time he fought a strong aggresive puncher??

Methinks he still has a lot to prove

Yeah he has been carefully matched since that Gomez loss - Although he has moved on and done good things, I suspect there are still some worries about him shipping too many punches
