Boxers who died in automotive crashes
All very sad.
Marciano was killed in a plane crash the day before his 46th birthday.
Marcel Cerdan killed in a plane crash.
Cleveland Williams was killed in a car crash.
Harry Greb and Tiger Flowers were killed by the same anesthesiologist, both in minor operations a year apart.
Zora Folley was killed when he slipped on some water near a children's swimming pool and split his head open.
Eddie Machen walked off a balcony while taking (medical) drugs.
Sonny Liston was killed by a mob "hot shot" and then smeared as a "drug addict" ever since by the clueless media.

Tell us ALL ABOUT the contact you have had with the Las Vegas mob.
You Britishers know SO MUCH about what goes on the US.
LOL.
CORRECTION for Wouter, the Las Vegas mob expert:wouter wrote:And all this time the Ali industry has lead us to believe that the Netherlands and Great Britain were two separate cuntries.granberry wrote:Wouter,

Mental midget overhand right has had as much contact with the US mob as our "expert" on the US from the Netherlands.overhand_right wrote:Its "retard", not "granberry".
Granberry, present us misty eyed Ali flock with your evidence for Liston cheerily presenting his arm and accepting a "hot shot" from some mobster whos skull he could crush with one hand.
Retard and mental midget overhand right reveals his "expertise" on how the mob operates.
He has just informed us from his vast fund of knowledge on the mob that they would send a SINGLE member to handle a target like Sonny Liston.
Are you sure they don't send a single woman for such a job?
The cluelessness is 100 % here.

Not trying to spilt hairs just looking for clarity.
I do remember from an obituary I read at the time he died that he had all kinds of physical difficulties from the time he was shot in the stomach at point blank range--
which was a YEAR AND A HALF before he "fought" Ali.
Her also said repeatedly that by far the most talented-gifted fighter he fought in his career was Curley Lee.

Dec, I don’t think you really need to present another side to an issue, since I think (hope?) most of us merely ignore the troll anyway. If we all ignore him, I think he may just go away.Decagon wrote:It is of course painfully obvious that Granberry decides his stances on moot issues simply because of an agenda, and we all know this. Forgive me for "feeding the troll," but I am of course going to show both sides of an issue if I feel someone isn't.
I find it hard to beleive that Liston was a junkie, he was too intelligent and had too strong a survival instinct for that... its much more likely that he pissed off some mob people, perhaps owing them money etc and was wasted for that... the hot shot was a well known way of wiping someone out in the 50s and 60s... look at Monroe...
decagon, tell us again how Joe Walcott the Barbados Demon was the same height as Henry Armstrong.Decagon wrote:Well, that begs the question as to why Liston moved to Las Vegas, to work for the Mob, or to live near his best friend and idol, Joe Louis, who was a heavy heroin addict. We all know that Liston, even when he was a top pro, was a problem drinker. Drinking a bottle of Crown Royal like it was a bottle of beer instead of training? That shows he had a problem. Some of his friends say he hated needles? We all do, but many of us get used to them during illness, abuse or both.granberry wrote:Sonny Liston was killed by a mob "hot shot" and then smeared as a "drug addict" ever since by the clueless media.

Are you "trolling" when you write such incompetent crap?
Poor decagon, in addition to his cluelessness when it comes to the fundamentals of boxing, is also clueles when it comes to those who run boxing.
Tell us again how it was good on Jack Johnson's part to refuse to risk his title against Sam Langford.
Do you have an agenda when you push such obviously partisan garbage?
Decagon wrote:My bad on Armstrong's height. I thought Boxrec listed it as being the same as Walcott's (156 cm). I knew that didn't make sense. My eye saw a 5 instead of a 6.
Silkov, I was pretty near being a junkie not too many months ago, and I'm sure I'm at least as smart as Sonny Liston. Another member here I respect (who helped me get clean) is pretty smart, himself. Unfortunately, drugs can take their toll on even the smartest humans. Sigmund Freud was a cocaine addict, and he was one of the greatest writers of the 20th century.
When I say smart I dont mean just smart as in qualifications and what books a person has read, I'm talking street smart, and I think Liston was considerably more street smart than most of the people on this forum... it seems hardly farfetched for me that he was forcibly given an overdose rather than taking it willingly himself... he had many enemies amongst both the mob and also the police and at the time 'hotshots' was a very popular way of eliminating someone and making look as if they had killed themselves via an overdose....
