Martin Gillick
Martin Gillick
Has anyone else noticed he's due to make his po debut against former Welsh ABA champion Justin Jones in Stoke on Saturday night... Martin was a super middle when he was touting himself on here, Justin is a big light heavy, should be interesting, if it takes place.

yes, used to train in the same gym, although I know everyone was dissapointed he didnt get the W against collins. Always remember Juston scoring a KO in the welsh am finals against former welsh international rugby player byron haywood. The BBC did a big segment prior to the fight on haywood, showed him training with his rugby colleagues, then showed him in the gym etc... etc... fight started and about a min in Justin cleaned him.Podmore_Birmingham wrote:I don’t think its happening anymore.
Justin Jones is a decent fighter, and he drew with a former decent amateur from around here, Dudley's Richie Collins, on his debut a few months back.
Tom Podmore.
Do you know if they've drafted another opponent in, or is he now on the shelf again?

I think he is off the show altogether. That's unless they can drag someone in late, of course.Wales wrote:yes, used to train in the same gym, although I know everyone was dissapointed he didnt get the W against collins. If Richie is the guy I am thinking of he is pretty tasty, as you say Tom.Podmore_Birmingham wrote:I don’t think its happening anymore.

Did he end his amateur career at Lions ABC?

He is a good fighter, although he is fighting at light-heavy as a pro and i'm sure he was only a middleweight as an amateur. He fought Aston's Brod Murphy, and Brod is a middle

hillarious.
i was pulled out a few days ago with an injury,i was still up for it but was told too risky.
i had a few fights organised recently but they all got pulled-not by me may i add!!
ive been ready for 3-4 weeks now but i cant help fights falling through.
you will see me in the ring without a doubt in the next 3-4 weeks hopefuly, just had to get fresh medicals as board wouldnt sanction any fights till i did although they were still valid till mid may.so im not interested in wasting £600+ if im not planning on fighting.
ive sorted my weight issue out now
,i walk about at 12-5 as we speak so at least im getting the training done now that ive teamed back up with rab bannan at the barn.
i was supposed to be fighting in cleethorpes on mon-dave pearson (12-4)but he pulled out last week and thats why i was offered jones which i agree was a tough one but i was confident as its a fight i was interested in a month ago so who knows.

with proper notice i could make 11-10 but thats down to my coach and dave who i fight and at what weight.im feeling strong again and i know that my name is a joke because of the past 2 year but thats partly down to me so its time for me to carry on and get the head down.ive had a lot of personal ups n downs but thats in the past.
in regards to matvienko,i only consider whats offered to my manager and me n the coach decide if its right.
ive only got a few years left so i have to take what i can get and i trust dave and his ability to get the fights.

i wont be considering a fight with him for a few months even if i did.
the only reason i was taking the jones fight was due to pull outs and the fact i asked for the jones fight a while back but he was booked.im under no illusions and ill pick the fights(well my trainer will) that are 50-50 at most for now.the main thing is that i get out into the ring so ppl see i do actually fight then i may get some offers, its hard due to the "reputation" ive been given on the net to get fights at the moment that are actually good fights,a reason why im not on the web much now.

thanx,Terry D wrote:I've watched Alex fight a few times now mate and he is not a debut type fighter. He dug-out a small-hall war with Randell and he is a lot to handle at this point.MTG wrote:well matvienko isnt 1 id av thought about but its down to my team.
im thinking of campaigning at middle after a few months anyway.so who knows.
i dnt play the calling out game.
If you took him on in your first fight I'd have respect but it would be hard.
Good luck
i appreciate someone being civil for a change
all the nonsense is behind me now so hopefuly you will see that i do actually get in the ring soon.
99% sure he was lhw matePodmore_Birmingham wrote:That's the man.TerribleTerry wrote:If Richie is the guy I am thinking of he is pretty tasty, as you say Tom.Podmore_Birmingham wrote:I don’t think its happening anymore.
