there was a shooting there and it got closed down. I think it's now been open for a while under a different name. I know the name but it evades me!

Or was that streets? God i'm getting old.
That was Streets. Think Slaters is still going, haven't been there in a while though.

Did anyone see 'The Seven Sins of England?' That was presented from Romford, Eff me, what a bloody den of iniquity.
I saw it, bloody hell what a shithole. The bouncer who called the drunken guy a "c***" seemed like a total psycho.

Oh yeah, the bouncer who was also into mixed martial arts. What a lovely bloke he was.

Very frightening having people like that on the door. There are so many psycho's who work the doors of nightclubs. Steroid abuse is rife, and loads of them carry knuckle dusters, pepper spray, CS gas and worse. Why any company would employ such dangerous lunatics is beyond me. The last thing you want is a lawsuit when one of the punters gets beaten up.

A place I used to go in Shepherd's Bush, had to fire their entire door staff, when one of them battered some asian lad with a knuckle duster for being mildly lippy when he was drunk. The guy called the police, and they had to get whole new team of door staff in. Plus the door staff were selling coke and pills in the club as well.

Were the people in that for real, or were they actors? It just occured to me that maybe it was all acting.

I think they were for real, although hamming it up for the cameras. The bouncer wasnt acting, you could tell hed got a screw loose. I thought these kind of knuckleheads were supposed to have been regulated out of the security industry? Can you imagine having to tackle a psycho MMA trained nightclub bouncer?

Yes he seemed to be on the verge of ejaculating in his trousers when talking about violence and when watching the Cage Rage show.

There must be LOADS of bouncers around the country who are also into MMA.

I was in TGI Fridays in Moscow recently and a Militsia man -- the Moscow equivalent of a bobby on the beat -- walked in to make sure there was no trouble. He had a Kalashnikov slung over his right shoulder.

To put that in perspective, the militia are notorious for jut taking bribes rather than prosecuting fines. The DPS -- traffic militsia -- stopped a car I was in for turning left at a no left turn junction and took a few hundred roubles instead of giving out a ticket. These men have automatic weapons. In TGI Fridays. Go figure.

And speaking of mindless violence, the OMAN, half spetsnaz, half special police, do 6 months in Chechnya before being sent to police Moscow. I see these guys walking 'round the main tourist spots all the time, and I really would rather see a mental knuckle-duster brandishing psycho on the door than one of those guys.

The thing is. Those guys are there to protect you from the lunatic Russian Mafia and other thugs, you should probably be very glad they are there.

When I was in Sharm El Sheikh, there were police with Kalashnikovs all over the place stopping vehicles at check points. Thing is, they are there because of the threat of terrorism and anarchy. In my guide book it suggested that if there was any trouble with the locals, to threaten to call the tourist police, and that it would rapidly sort out any bother, as the local were very much afraid of being in the shit with them.

Some of them are sub contracted to the Russian Mafia. And a police force that's corrupt is one thing. One that have AK's and take bribes is another.

To a certian degree, you're right, but it put me right off my buffalo wings.

Frankly I'm disgusted at this list.
my home town is the murder capitol of western Europe, the stabbing capitol of the world, one of the centre's of heroin abuse, the heart disease mecca of the planet and the UN recently voted it the least civilised city of any industrialised nation.
Yes folks.....Glasgow's miles better!:)
