HOWARD EASTMAN v WAYNE ELCOCK in September

Post by overhand_right »

Disappointing for Eastman.

Out of action now til september, another small hall British show against a guy who has no name or reputation on the world scene. Completely pointless fight as Eastman closes in on 37.

Wouldn't slotting Eastman in on an American undercard v a known ex-champ like Keith Holmes or William Joppy been a serious statement?

Eastman is finished as a world entity IMO.

I will be looking for Wayne to spring the upset with his exocet-like right hand, though its a big ask.
BUt if anyone can, a Brummie Zulu like Wayne should be able to do it :D :TU:

I hope Ken Purchase brings this fight to Brum!

Any word on it Tom?

No dislike mate - he is a nice enough fellar who has been on the friges of world class for years and always disappointed on the biggest stage.

I aint anti-Eastman as much as I am pro Elcock.

All I will say is get down to Brum for one of Waynes fights - the atmosphere will have you buzzing for days - Wayne always brings the fight and is a cracking lad to boot: well liked by all.

Eastman is an African enigma and whilst he has lovely skills he ellicits nothing like the pasion that a fighter like Wayne can.

C'mon you ZULU!!

Where is he from again??! :D

By enigma I mean in terms of his ring style and personality, not so much his place of birth..

I like this match up. It's a throwback to when the British title was not just some stop-off to grabbing a shit world title.

The fight itself may not catch fire, especially if Elcock can't make an impact early, but he's the mandatory, having earned his shot the hard way and Eastman has always been a very high calibre British champion.

To me, it's another positive step on British boxing's road to recovery. :TU:

Wayne, of course, is more than confident he can do the job. Its a Maloney Promomtion at the Villa Lesiure Centre.

Wayne is no longer with Ringside Promotions. Ken and Louis Purchase are disapointed but wish him all the best in his quest to become champion.

I really, really hope Elcock can do it. And i echo what Dan says about the atmosphere at Wayne's fights - electric.

The 3,000 venue will be packed - how many times can you say that when Eastman fights?

Williams is a better fitghter than Elcock, you wonlt catch Richard Wlliams getting spakred in 1 round by Lawrence Murphy.

Eastman beats Elcock and fast.

I like Elcock, think he's a good boxer but he really let himself down with his showing against Dann. Nice to see he's built himself up again and hope he beats Howard...although I don't think he does.
