DID KHAN WIN THE TITLE ????

Post by 1southpaw »

JUST LOOKING AT AMIR KAHN,S RECORD AND I NOTICED THAT WHEN HE FOUGHT (RACHID DRILZANE) IT STATES THAT HE WON OVER 10 ROUNDS BUT ON THE TELE HE WON THE I.B.F. LIGHT WELTER INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE ???? I KNOW HE VACATED STRAIGHT AWAY BUT IF HE DID WIN THAT TITLE WHY WAS IT OVER 10 AND KEVIN MITCHELL WON THE SAME TITLE (SUPER FEATHER) OVER 12

Because they wanted an extra title fight for the show ad didn't want Khan in a 12-rounder yet. Allegedly FW asked for an exemption, and after a very long and difficult period of consideration, the IBF reluctanctly agreed.

No he didnt win any title.

The IBF title was not on the line, the IBF dont rank Khan and had no idea who that belt belonged to.

This is FACT, ask our exhalted Boxrec over lord JohnShep who confirmed it with IBF.

With any otehr boxer, this would be a big scandal.

With Amir, its brushed under the rug.

It was the INTERCONTINENTAL title. You can always find one or another of those straps lying vacant.

I know.

The IBF said their belt was not on the line. No one has pursued/confirmed who that belt even belonged to, that Khan "won".

I'm sure there's a few spare trinkets gathering dust in a Sports Network broom cupboard.

Sure the IBF wouldn't have rejected a sanctioning fee though.

But the IBF accepted no sanctioning fee, because the fight was nothing to do with them, despite Frank Warrens claims.

This is confirmed by the IBF themselves, ask John Shep on the record queries forum.

They probably bought the IBF belt and just said it was sanctioned for the title. I did find it peculiar at the time that it was a ten-rounder.

Thought so, shame he couldn't find replacements for those fights really. Remember when Hennassy got CHarles Adamu as a late replacement for Tony Dodson shows what can be done and Warren had plenty more warning that Harrison was about to pull out.

btw do you still post on the AH forum?
