Fenech and the 3 watches

Post by bollox »

Worth $400 :D

What was that crap all about? Fenech is a millionaire so I find it almost impossible to imagine he'd be involved in pinching some relatively cheap watches :-?

yes, but yesterday we learned he has to stand trial for theft/shoplifting, which carries up to 7 years.

Ive seen the tape of this incident - he is so guilty it's not funny. Why he is contesting this is beyond me. The only thing I can think of, is pleading guilty to this may effect his visa status hence travelling prospects to places such as the USA?

I figured thats what you meant, but I'm curious as to what things he's done or what about the way he acts makes you feel that way. It would'nt surprise me if he's guilty as sin I'm just curious why he would do that.

So have many others. Selecting a jury that's not of the same opinion is going to be extremely difficult.
If the case eventually makes it to district court & he's found guilty, his legal eagle will no doubt scream mistrial.

Going public on national TV with it, might've been a good idea.....Possibly purposely done so.

Time will tell.

People should stop listening to newsreaders who always quote the maximum penalty for an offence. As it was Fenech was fined $750, which is about the going rate for drink driving. Nobody goes to gaol for petty theft unless they are habitual, and then it is usually a few months. A case in point re penalties is Malicious Damage, which covers vandalism. The maximum penalty for this is 14 years, but usual cases of vandalism, such as graffiti or smashing a window, will draw a fine or a good behaviour bond.

Look at Rodney Adler. He took people for millions and he is out of gaol after a couple of years. As an ex cop I can tell you that it is not that easy for crims to get into gaol. I have seen blokes caught in the act of break, enter and steal get fined.

Rod Adler needs to be placed in a room and each and every person that lost money through the collapse ought to be given their turn at thumping him :x

You an ex cop? Where abouts are you, what state?

I live in the south western suburbs of Sydney. I was in the NSW Police Force for 25 years, taking early retirement at 55 years of age. Apart from a few years in specialist squads I spent most of my career in General Duties at Fairfield, Cabramatta and Wetherill Park. I was at Cabramatta for the last nine years before I retired.

Cabramatta? :o :o that place gets a bit of a bad wrap in the press, down here in Mexico. It's probably misleading but it seems every time Cabramatta is on the news something nasty has just happened there

Your information is a bit out of date. Once the Government changed the rules on drug houses to say that we could declare a premises a drug house and arrest anyone in it if drug paraphernalia (e.g. small balloons, foils, syringes )was found on the premises the place was cleaned up in short order. Before that they would be flushing the heroin down the toilet as we broke the door in. The last major drug lord in the area, Khanh Nguyen, is doing time now after being involved in the murder of a woman in a billiard parlour about four years ago. You could take your grandmother for a walk up John Street in safety now.
