Hello folks, just out of interest would like to find out who this Boxer is in a book a friend of mine was reading recently. The book is called "A million little pieces" and is written by a recovering drug addict named James Frey. Midway through the book he meets a guy called "Matty Jackson" who was apparently the Featherweight champion of the world but it is surely a pseudonym as all people in this rehablitation centre have their names altered.
Anyway an excert goes like this
Where the fornicate you know me from?
I'm not sure where do you live?
Minneapolis.
Thats not it what is your last name?
You aint supposed to ask anyone their fornicating last name in this motherfucking place.
Your name is Jackson you were on tv the Featherweight champion of the world.
He Smiles....i sure as fornicate was.
I smile...they wouldnt interview you cause you swear too much.
They sure as fornicate wouldnt the cocksucking, motherfucking, tv motherfuckers.
It goes on to say Matty was at the time one of the best boxers in the world and he took a hit from a crack pipe a a party and was hooked, he fought once more and was destroyed. He was fast, smart unbeatable at his weight, 126 pound champion.
Ok so this book was published in 2003, so this would have been going on say late nineties early 2000's at a guess. According the end of the book "Matty" was shot dead outside a crack house in Minneapolis, no date or time given. Any idea who this mystery man might be?[/b]

No idea, but it could have been a minor world champ who told people who didn't know better that he was "featherweight champion of the world".
Love this piece, though:

Why censor "effing last name" but leave "motherfucking place" intact? Is it OK if you put "mother" before it?You aint supposed to ask anyone their effing last name in this motherfucking place.
